Hi guys and girls i have a blue tongue lizard and i have been told it has a cyst in it's eye i have been using antibiotic drops and hasn't gotten better if not worse the cyst i think has popped and is now was bleeding
  1. do i let the lizard go
  2. is there anything i can do to fix it
  3. will my other lizards contract the cyst

Let it go?
As in what? Release it into the wild or give it to someone else?
Go see a reptile specialised vet if you haven't already. If you have, go see them again?
How long have you been administering the drops for?

yes as in release into the wild i have taken it to the specialist and he said use these drops and it will come right there isn't much else he can do and i have been administrating them since last tuesday

why would you release it into the wild?
wouldnt that just be a death sentence to a lizard that needs medical attention?

(if the vet you took it too cant operate on it, surely a better vet could.)

Wow.
Very illegal and very irresponsible. I'm not a vet, so I'm not sure how long it will take for these drops to have an effect but surely you can go visit another vet?

Mate not only is it illegal to release any captive reptiles inti the wild, its plain cruelty. These animals are susceptible to predation and starvation. In captivity you provide them food and there are no predators. It's even worse that its sick. As for the eye problem I'm not sure whoever the vet should be able to do something..... If not take it to a vet that knows what they are doing.

If you are not already using it Chlorsig (drops) they are an eye Antibiotic that can be purchased (over the counter) (S3) it IMO it is problamatical if antibiotics would cure a cyst once again "IMO" ....but well worth a try, 7 - 10 days, twice a day, but on another front l would "DEF" separate the said patient as BTL's can be very aggressive at times and particularly if another one has been detected as weak or injured....on another front "flaming" on posts like this one gets "no-one" anywhere, all it will do is get peoples backs up and at the very worst stop people from getting their problems "POSSIBLY" answered. ~B~

Do not release it.

Btw, Roma-Thompson97, i see your in Chiltern! i used to live in Barnawartha!
such a nice and quiet little part of the world :')

i got it from a guy and i have no clue where he got it from

and to tell everyone the truth i have $0 dollars to my name i tried taking it to the vet and to just pick the lizard up and look at it they wanted $100 so i have been trying some over the counter drops and salt water

Sounds like it originally came from the wild and you don't have a licence or the money to keep it.
I believe your best option is to contact a wildlife carer in your area and hand it over to them to care for it.
They should only release it when they are confident it has a good chance of surviving in the wild or they will find someone with a licence to permanently keep it in captivity.

i can keep it i've been doing just fine feeding it apples carrot and things she is tame i can pick it up and it has no worries but because i'm 17 mum has been buying the food and she can't afford the vet either and no i don't have a licence because in Victoria you don't need one
