My 5 lizards (1x EWS , 2x EBTS , 2x CBD) are all still active and feeding and showing no signs of wanting to curl up and brumate.

None of them have ever brumated (the EWS is 4 years old, was bought as a baby).

Is it really necessary for lizards (skinks and dragons) to brumate over winter if they live in nice warm house and food is always available and they are never bred ?

No, its not necessary. Its not even necessary when breeding them. I would imagine it might prolong life expectancy slightly. No data on that though. I live in Cairns (so warm winters) and my lizards definitely slow but the only species i have that truly brumate is the Bearded Dragons.
