beardy vs ackie

hi guys trying to make the choice on either one of these guys so thought id ask some other people opinions on the matter which you would prefer and why thanks in advance

It comes down to what you want. I have both - if you want a lizard that is cuddly and placid and a bit slower then go the beardy, they're a great pet. On the other hand, the ackies are intelligent and fast, some 'tame down' but it's a real gamble! I love both of mine to bits either way

i have a beardy so now i want an ackie

tho my understanding is beardy's are more amiable to being handled and are less active and ackies are less amiable to being handled but are more active and entertaining to watch.

yeah my missus wants me to get a beardie because of the handling so my son can have a play to but i like the ackies cos they are more of a predator and just love to watch them do there thing

lol i was just thinking that but then that means 2 thermostats 2 heat sources 2 uv sources 2 enclosures comes up to a good sized figure i will only get one lol but if the option was possible id deffinately get both

Does your son like animals? How big a part will he play in it's care?

my son loves animals big small feathery hairy or scaly under very close supervision he is never allowed to hold anything alone as he is still very young and dosent know his own strength honestly id say he will have 0 to do with its care if you mean by feeding and cleaning as he is to young he would more or less watch and that would really be it.

Okay it sounds like you really want an ackie, and as you'll both most likely be watching it (a beardie is pretty boring in that respect ) It's probably the way to go. They're amazing lizards and learn things very quickly... so it's not to say you won't get to have it out after it gets used to people!

My own little guy is a year old, he gets frustrated all the time with his enclosure so I ackie-proofed the room and trained him to climb up my arm and out if he wanted. He's getting better with handling too, still fast and squirmy sometimes though

Beardies.....boring......:? No way! Since getting my little man, ive hardly managed to get anything done......he is FAR too distracting! Beardies have awesome personalities & are amazing to watch!

Haha, sorry then it's just mine that is SO lazy... if I have him out sure but otherwise he'll mostly lie on his couch! He demands attention though, gets really depressed if I don't cuddle him at least 4 times a day

lol it is a hard choice thats for sure whats the main differences in care between the 2?
