just purchased a 7cm green tree frog and enclosure from marmarc on here. my question is will this fella get along with 2 or more much smaller red eye frogs?? do you guys have any tips for successful cohabitation , like feeding smaller amounts but on a more regular basis so bob(the green tree frog) doesnt get aggressive?? do frogs get aggressive to one another should have been my first question actually. any help/advice in keeping frogs is gladly appreciated.

I wouldn't chance it........ GTF try and eat anything....... even frogs of the same size! No matter how much u feed they just want more and more.

I wouldn't either. I have 5 green tree frogs and one is quite small and i've often thought about taking her out just in case the big fat one decides her fancies her for a snack. Someone told me ther tried to keep GTF's with a dwarf spiecies from when the GTF was the same size as them but as soon as it was big enough it ate 8 of them. No joke.

I gave a mate a estern water dragon baby 17cm toatal lenth to put in his 8ftx4ft terrium with his half grown tree frogs and he came home the next day to see the tail of the dragon hanging out the mouth of one of the smaller frogs(pulled him out stil alive thankfully)..... NEVER TRUST FROGS

Frogs eat animals that fit in their mouths, this includes frogs.

hhmmmm. might need to get a second enclosure. for some reason i was under the wrong impression that frogs are chilled out peaceful folk. will a 3yr old GTF eat a younger GTF??

Im not sure about all species, but many can get along if they are a suitable size. They will eat smaller frogs even if they are they same species.

update: everyone is still alive with the exception of a few crickets.

its been a growing trend around here latley , im waiting for the u guys were right and the GTF ate the other frogs post ;)

point of thread was to enquiry about tips for cohabitation. being green pun intended i wasnt aware that there would be any risk in frog with frog living. great to see the friendly faces come out for a new member of the community.

It's just that with all the members on here having experience with the GTF's and how voracious their appetite is ....... which will inevitably lead to cannibalism of smaller frogs, the advice given has clearly been ignored. Hence why the frogs are still ''happy cohabiting'' ........ enjoy it, while it lasts.

Somehow i don't think when the inevitable happens, there will be a thread posted about it lol

Trust me, i have only been a member on here for a year, in this time i have posted many threads asking for advice....... in doing so, i followed advice given, and i can guarantee you that myself and my animals have benefited from this.

So when someone asks advice, and then gets the same answer from numerous members, this would mean that the answer is pretty concrete.... would it not?

So, not just for the sake of making friends lol....... but for the sake of your little froggies.......

SEPERATE them :D

I have GTF's. A friend who breeds them gave me 3 babies (size of my finger nail). I put them in another container in the frog enclosure (as I knew they would be eaten). And surprise surprise it didn't take long for the bigger frogs to come over and investigate and try and eat the babies through the container!

I have only just introduced one of the babies in with the older frogs. He is alot bigger than the older frogs mouths, but not quite as big in body size and he is doing fine. He was the most agressive feeding baby, so i expected him to be ok. It actually is growing really fast and is catching up quick to the older frogs.

But as everyone else has said if the frogs wont be the same size when full grown it's not wise to keep them together. GTF's will eat anything and everything they can get their mouths around including other smaller frogs including their own kind!!
