Hi everyone,

Just a quick question, im soon getting a python that will be around 12-18months and approx 3-3.5ft. The enclosure im building is 5.5ft long. 2ft deep, and 2.5ft high. will I be able to put the snake straight into this, or is it a better idea to start off with something a bit smaller as I dont want to stress it or cause feeding trouble. also, will this be large enough for a full grown male murray darling carpet?

thanks

I think height will be more important for this species as they like to climb, my 3 year old carpet has an enclosure that is 1200mm high X 900mm deep X 600mm deep.

My view is that snakes should have a enclosure that they can pretty much strech out in and branches if nececary.Clearly they are not like cats or dogs they have priorities finding food, finding heat to digest food and water then do the same proces as well as finding a mate if we provide all these things then they dont have to travel around looking for safe places to find these things

in my oppinion this enclosure would be more than enough for an adult as long as you have a perch mate all will be good ,find out what size enclosure its coming from !

yep i will have a nice size log in there for it to be up high on ! thanks for the help
