hey all
i am just wondering what people think about frilled lizards.
who has one
are they hard to keep
do they cost much
anything that you want to share would be very helpful

thnx:)

Hi Mate,

No they're not particularly hard to keep. No harder than beardies really. Cage requirements are similar - they just need more height. They will spend 90% of their time perched on branches. Mine will eat woodies, crix, fruit, veg and fuzzy mice. Personality wise they are very interesting. Generally they're not quite as receptive to handling as a beardie and are a little more fragile. Hatchlings I've seen between $250-$400. Adults generally start at $400 and go upwards from there. Adult females are usually very hard to get.

Regards,
Premier Pythons

thnx that was helpful
btw were do you get them and how did you reaserch them are there any good websites or books on them

My frilly Binks is highter maintenace than izzy my beardie. He eats way more and loves to climb. He is way faster on his feet so needs carefull watching. If i would give any advice it would be to get the biggest enclosure possible as they love to get up on their back legs and RUN. Binks and izzy are both free roamers so they got all the room they need

ize-GPR may i ask how big is your cage doesnt have to be exact

on average QLD forms get to around 3ft total length and NT form get to about 4ft total length

We have 4 frillies. They are a bit harder to keep than beardies due to the fact that they are used to a 'tropical' environment. So - in Adelaide we need to keep them heated all year round and also keep their cage misted - so they don't dry out. They do eat quite a lot as has already been said. They are a bit harder to handle than beardies and are a bit moody. They can get upset if you move them or change their enclosure around and they can stop eating.
But they are great lizards and a really good addition to your collection!
I've attached a word document 'Keeping Frillies' by Paul & Toni Curtis - hope this helps.
