Hey guys, signed up a while back but never had time to post. Anyway thought i'd introduce myself! My name's Pete, from Melbourne, Victoria and have always been really enthusiastic about reptiles. Have had fresh water turtles, frogs and lizards most of my life in one form or another but currently have 2 Eastern Water Dragons and an Eastern Long-necked Turtle.
I'm currently studying at Melbourne University doing my masters on the phylogeography of the Lace Monitor (Varanus varius), large scale genetic work over its entire range in australia (looking at gene flow and barriers, isolated populations, etc), as well as landscape genetics work on a population in East Gippsland (looking at modes of dispersal, interspecific competition with other predator species etc). If anyone's interested in learning more about my research I'm debating chucking a thread up about it.
After studying these beautiful reptiles for the past year and doing a lot of field work with them I've become pretty interested at the prospect of doing some breeding projects with Varanids in the future. So if anyone's got any info on the subject, about breeders, etc please feel free to chuck it my way!
Anyway I'll stop ranting, have a nice one!
