Hi does anyone know if my snake has internal parasites she is swollen around the stomach area she has refused a feed her scales look like its pealing off underneath her she has been laying around her water bowl with the swollen area against the water bowl. if anyone can help thank you.

Nothing you have observed indicates internal parasites. Scales coming off indicates scale rot or a fungal infection. A picture would help diagnosis!

Intestinal parasites generally come from feeding live food to your snake, if you use frozen/thawed food, parasites shouldnt be an issue.

No one can tell you on a forum if your snake has parasites, even a vet would have to take a sample to test befoer he/she could offer that diagnosis.

If you are worried about your snake, and it is visibly swollen and refusing food, i suggest skipping forum advice and taking her to a vet.

is it the female jungle python you posted about at the start of september that had been mating?

Umm... I'm no expert, but swollen and refusing food screams "gravid" to me...

Keeping the swolen area against the waterbowl suggests she's trying to keep her belly cool. Between that and the fact that her scales look funky, my uneducated guess would be burn? Check your set-up, but I'd be taking her to a vet. Pronto. You can't expect comprehensive advice on a forum, especially without photos.

I took a picture but you cant notice the scales peeling off on the picture thanks for your help.

What has made you suspect that your snake has internal parasites?

Well I first thought she might be gravid but then the guy that owns my local pet shop had a look at her and said it looks like internal parasites he said I should keep her warm and in a week or two give her a feed he said its because her tank is too cold but I don't believe that because I have a thermostat and a thermometer in her enclosure and I always monitor the temperature.

I probably wouldn't be taking advice from that guy anymore, I would take your snake to the vets for a checkup and to have a look at the scales.
