My Beardie's 1st Shed and Growth Rate

All,

Woke up this morning to find Shingles was shedding. He still has a good apetite and had a nice feed and a quick swim in the warm water (usual activity).

This is his growth rate and also a pic of him shedding.

Pretty happy to see this natural cycle happening. Means that I am doing all things right thus far.

He will have a nice bask in the sun today between 1 and 2.30 as the UV rating is very high according to http://www.bom.gov.au/products/UV/Tullamarine_VIC.shtml

surely that couldnt be its first shed at what 3 months old it is? mine is 3 months old and has had about 4 i think.

Definately his 1st shed since I have had him. Unless he shed before I got him.. Not sure...

MzSel, yes he loves the woodies and they hate him.. LOL

mine is the same age and is 320mm from mouth to tip of the tail, 85 grams I think. What length is yours currently do you know?

most of my reptiles r shedding my water dragon only has his tail left all my beardies have and all 3 of my snakes r about to

my guy is 3-4 months old and has shed several times. how old was shingles when you got him ?

Well when I got him he was only 8 weeks old, that is what the breeder told me...

I am now thinking, was he younger??

Update.

Just weighed him today and he is now 12g and 150mm in length.

His weight has more than doubled in 2 weeks and he has grown about 30mm in less than 2 weeks.

So I must be doing something right.

Now that I have a Repti Glo 10 UV Tube installed he may even grow a little quicker. As long as he is showing signs of good health, which he is, I am happy.

UPDATE:

Just measured and weighed up Shingles tonight.

Size: 190mm
Weight: 17.2g

This is my little thread I will keep going for a while.

Anyways, Shingles is starting to shed again, no wonder he seemed a little down last couple of days.

Still eating heaps though as all baby beardies do.

Also, did a rough measurement, he has now cracked the 200mm mark.

I am amazed at the growth rate for this species he grew bout 4cm in less than 3 weeks.

Pics will be posted once he completed his slough.
