Looks good, gourgous enclosure.Ours cost us $850(just enclosure) its 4 and a half foot x two feet x 2 feet. Can stick enclosures on top of each other and they look good in lounge.Like big cabinet.
We just got our beardies on saturday.2 yellow phase,4weeks old.gourgous things(I think) I want more.I have a two yr old son,he just want to get in enclosure wit them lol.
I think maybe juv might be better for a ten yr old,he can hold him straight away but then again if he wants to learn frm the start and be a daddy to a newborn,GO for it.
I know that everyone has missed the importent bit bout CALCIUM and MULTIVITAMINS but then gain you could already know that frm gecko(do geckos gotta have it too.see I aint smart either).
When feeding the crickets don't forgot ta give em a sprinkle of calcium every time feed and multi-v's twice a week.
I can't say much I'm still learning myself but i do read alot and so does my partner.
There pooh comes out brown/black,with wat seems to look like a white worm on it too. This mean they are getting there calcium.
And don't be stressed if they look like they scared of crickets, they are just settling in,(this is wat happened to ours, didn't see them eat for 3 half days. They must of but cos there no cricket in there lol)after stressing for that look, they dn't stop.so feed em as many crickets they can eat in ten mins.Have fun and wish him luck this time.

Thats a huge big enclosure Channy, very nice. :D

Do you have your beardies in the big enclosure yet? What substrate are you using, looks like sand, (hope im wrong, but its hard to see in that pic though)

Do you feed yours in a separate tub? Im getting a beardie soon (when I find one, im after a red phase in Vic, as I dont want to freight) hopefully within the next 3 weeks. Have the enclosure pretty much set up except for some bits and pieces also.

I think feeding crickets will be the hardest part of it all, I dont like creepy, crawly, jumpy insects. lol

Nice enclosure Chanyanchris.
Any pics of your new litle beardies?
I'll have to post pics of my red phase and yellow phase babies.

roaches are much nicer than crickets,... :)

the white part of the poo has nothing to do with calcium,...its the urate.

depending on the age of the dragon this might help with sexing,...

Baby beardies dont need to start in a small tank, if u want the adult tank straight away that wont be a problem fro it.
(min adult size 4X2X2)

dont feed fruit more than twice a week, beardies dont handle sugar too well and should be eating lots of greens (asian salad greens prepackaged from coles are great, endive, bok choy) i use green beans and butternut pumpkin to add some colour and crunch. :)

yes its sand with walnut shells ontop.everyone says don't use it but i have no prob wit trying it.They were born in sand(in wild life)and live in it so i think it wouldn't hurt for a bit and they dn't eat it.But am thinking of changing it to be saver.but just wanna see if I can prove some people wrong. Maybe I'm just being stupid but wat the hell. They are a species that live in the hottest parts and walk through the toughest sand, dirt ect.they hardie reptiles right?
But yeah the tank is big and I love to wacth them run round in it.I found someone in Lilydal(5 mins frm there)that sell red/orange ones.He got an add on here to call him.So I did.He got 130+ ranging from 4weeks to 4mnth.Bit far for me but thinking I may still go on saturday. He said there not as orange/red as the ones in nsw.I may try Miss B's clutch next time.willing ta pay for them sent. It's worth it.They colours are gourgous.Good work Miss B.

:? Oh gee, thanks. Now my skin is crawling lol

Oh well, I will get used to it I guess.

Is it better to feed them roaches or crix for hatchlings? Do the roaches come that small?

Channy, are you not worried about impaction? Im only new to reptiles, but all Ive read on here (im a night owl lol) says no sand until they are much older because of impaction.
Most suggest newspaper or paper towel, personally I wouldnt risk it just to prove people wrong, but its not my call. :)

Ive seen the pics of Miss B's beardies, they are gorgeous, maybe have to wait for her next clutch then. Im way over the other side of town, out past Tullamarine airport, so I dont want to have to drive for hours lol.

aarrgghh!!

stick with plain washed playsand! Crushed walnut shells are deadly!!

i wasnt trying to prove anyone wrong when i almost lost my big girls to that stuff, either were alot of other people that have lost theirs,...

http://mrskingsbioweb.com/beardeddragngrossanatomy.htm

yes its sand with walnut shells ontop..

Channy

one of mine was so clogged she could only squeeze out tiny amounts of poo 5-6 times a day, the other was being shredded internaly and left her vent hanging open for 20-30 mins after she pooped,...i felt horrible knowing i'd done that to them,...

i keep my babies on paper towels till theyre about 30cms long then change them to sand,...its alot better to be safe than sorry,..

Yeah I'm worried but it was already set up before I brout them home and didn't know bout sand till that day.I know we should take it out but my partner is rough and say's it's ok.They'll live.
It's mainly his call,so I really shouldn't have written wat I said.
I stressed bout it to him,but ya listen to a partner, and one has to give in sometime.so tonight BIG fight I will be telling him wat to do.Lol nuh He will feel guilty.I'm over in Frankston. So,its far for me too but dn't know yet.Miss B's I gotta get two,if its this season or next.I'm gettin em.saving for another enclosure now so may go get a juv. frm this guy in lilydale.they got 15yrs exspeince so I think I'm save there.

Wat should be my temps.cool side says 27.9now,the room in lounge in which there in says 24.9(pretty warm huh.doesn't feel it after 35 yesterday).uh heat like just flicked on.Thermo at 28-29.sound right??and how many hours a day should the basking light be on???

playsand is fine, my first babies were raised on it, i just decided to be super safe with the second lot,..
and yep, its teh sand pit stuff, bunnings sell it for $5.50 fro a 20kg bag,...

the link shows an autopsy on a dragon that died from a crushed walnut shell impaction,..not pretty, but it will help change ur bf's mind,.. :) Just sift teh sand/walnut shell mix and you'll get most of it out...

heres a pic of my babies, just cos i love em to bits, theyre names are Chubby, Bug, Kaida, Kyro and Daisy,.. :)

hehe, i dont need to punch u, sounds like u feel bad enough already. :)

dunno what to set the thermo to, just measure the temps on the basking spot (like with a thermometer) and get them to about 40 and work it out from there. :)

Basking lights are generally on fro 14 hours along with teh UVB light, otherwise u can just go with the sun, whatever works better for you,.. :)
try and get them out into the sun for a couple of ours a week to boost their UV, its great fro their health and appetite. those mesh flexariums from herpshop are great fro that. :)

at 4weeks old i wouldnt be keeping them on sand either, it can also cause impaction. Untill they get bigger keep them on newspaper or astro turf, just something they cant eat. Also there is no need to worry about a thermostat. Just use a bulb that gives a good temp 40-45c at the basking spot and thats all thats needed. I do not have a single thermostat and i know plenty of others who dont use them either.

They are so cute.Is that their bed.A whole room ta themselfs??? or just walk round house.I'de love to let mine walk round when they get bigger and tammer.Another question.lol sorry but u know how they carry celominilea(wat chicken has) can you use dettol do something else and then go back to cage to hold them.would this affict them at all do u know?it drys up on ya hand 99.99% kills gems would it kill my babies?

ok its its prewierd there is not much you can do about it. For substrate newspaper is probably the best, its free and makes cleaning very quick of you can go with astroturf which looks a bit better but takes more time washing it.

yeah, thats their bed. :)

they all sleep together, but only teh 2 big ones are house dragons so far, the others are still pooing more than once a day, so till theyre @ the stage where they only poo in the bath they have to stay in their tanks. :)

the salmonella isnt really as big a risk as people make out, you'd pretty much have to stick ur tongue up its bum hole to get sick,.. :)
i kiss/slobber all over my dragons, blow raspberries on their tubby tummys, they tend to run across my dinner plate from time to time and i havent been sick yet,...

i guess that detol stuff is meant to be ok so i wouldnt think there'd be too great a risk of it killing ur dragons. ;)
if you have the opportunity i'd rinse inbetween tho,...(but i'm paranoid like that)

Hey Hornet is astroturf the green fake grass??was thinking of this stuff.

i didnt think that salmonella would be bad on dragons(how da people have em walk round there house)(like yours) thats so cool.I'm so getting more. I am just so clean cos of my son.His two and I'de die if he got sick cos it was my fault not washing hands.Just dettol faster if ya coming back ta touch them in five mins.
