hey guys i currently just got myselve a jungle python an 8 month old and just woundering the person i bought her from has been feeding her pinkies shes about 700mm long and just wanna know should i be giving her mice ? and if any one can help me out with any more information that would be great i have been doing research but it tells me one story then another story just wanna see what other people say thanks guys

you should feed your snake so you can see a moderate lump in its belly. Usually a food item between 10-20% of the weight of your snake is a good starting point. People also measure by feeding a food item no more than 1.5 times the girth of the snake at its thickest point.

I assume by pinkies you mean pinkie rats not mice. I would probably stick to rats. It might save you some trouble later down the track when she outgrows mice. Some pythons don't switch easily from mice to rats due to their different smells. In my experience rats have being easier to source as well.

ok thanks for that guys just yeah was looking around and alot of pages were tellying me to feed it mice and yes pinkies as in rats but thank's for the help.

cool as mate. Well if it is on pinky mice then I would def move him up a size or 2. Try fuzzy or weanling rats. Jungle should love the upsize and smash them :) especially coming into summer

I would be feeding it half-grown mice. Pink rats & pink mice are basically meat mush. Half-grown mice have teeth, well-developed bones, and fur - all important components in a snake's diet. I would keep it on mice until large adult mice are too small for it, then move up to weaner rats.

Most carpets will start very easily on hopper and weaner mice from hatch, in fact they usually prefer them to naked pink mice, which are too small for a baby carpet. Pink mice are OK to start small species such as GTPs, but it's wise to get them onto bigger stuff with fur asap.
