Hi, I hope I have put this post in the correct place.
This morning this snake was between my screen door and front door in the cavity of about 13 cm.
I used a long ruler to push it outside, where it stayed for about 15 minutes on the porch.
It has moved on up into my garden now and I am hoping...
So I thought I'd post a thread sharing some of my photo's from this years sightings. I've been able to find a whole heap of new species for me in my local area, a rather broad definition of the word 'local' too. I will start with reptiles from the newcastle-central coast vicinity...

So this thread is composed of a bunch of reptile pics I've taken since back in October, through to now over a couple different trips.
First off was a short night up around Newcastle with a couple of friends.
This Rough-scale was one of the few snakes out on the road.

Hey all.
I flew up to NSW last week for some herping around the Hunter Valley with a few mates.
After getting off the plane, we went for a poke around some spots in Newcastle.
First finds were a young Marsh Snake and She-oak Skink.

Hey
i found this snake in my back yard yesterday where the kids play and was wondering what kind of snake it is?

Cheers for the help!
Ok so I went herping with Stephen around Coffs harbour and north of it. I had a great time and found many new species which pleased me. The last few shots are from around the hunter valley after we came back. The quality of my shots will vary because I was borrowing different equipment at...

Hi, I was sent 2 pictures from a friend who found this snake dead on the side of the road, although it does not appear to have been run over. I initially saw the belly photo and thought it may be either a small eye or an unusual red belly, but the red does not appear up the flanks and didn't...
A friend had a snake dragged in by his cat it appears to me to be a Golden Crown Snake but we are located in Nowra on the South Coast 3 hours south of Sydney. The snake is in my care now and I was hopping to release it back into the wild but where??? The people that found it had been away to the...
Earlier this month at the AHS meet in Syd, I picked up some beaut little snakelings from Colin Smallwood. A pair of Golden Crowneds (Cacophis squamulosus) and a pair of Marsh Snakes (Hemiaspis signata).
Over a week later, I assist fed them gently on mice tails using a clever method suggested...
This past weekend a friend and I drove south to the Mackay area to look for the 4 species of leaf-tailed gecko (Phyllurus) that are endemic to the area. We had two nights to find all four species, none of which are sympatric. Barriers of low-lying dry sclerophyll forest have kept the different...

For the newbs, so you hard core seasoned herps with venom in your veins keep it to yourself eh!

will put another one up tomorrow!
Seeing its getting colder which leads to a decline in herping threads (plus I'm just bored on a Sunday night) I thought I'd throw up some pictures of the snakes I have photographed so far this year. Majority of pics have maybe been seen before.
Cheers.

These are a few pictures of the animals I managed to photograph whilst herping over Easter with Dan (Dantheman), unfortunatly a few species would rather run instead of posing...including a fairly large Red Bellied Black snake and a pair of Spotted-Tail Quolls!

A guy on another forum made these disparaging remarks about our elapids.
His comment was:
I decided to reply and thought that some of you would enjoy these pics as well. I am sure that you will agree that we have plenty of brilliantly coloured snakes that are various shades of olive...
Hey guys,

Spring is here and on Friday, I heard the raucous calls of Channel-billed Cuckoos for the first time this season (see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3e/Channel-billed_Cuckoo_Sep07_kobble.jpg/580px-Channel-billed_Cuckoo_Sep07_kobble.jpg). This is a great time of the year...
Hello, My Name is Felix. Im a semi-experienced aquarist wanting to look into herptology:D
I'm intent on Hypsilurus spinipes as a first lizard, but first would like to observe them in wild.
Going to lamington national park this weekend, any spotting tips?
Thanks!
Copied from my blog.
The other weekend I went up to the Lamington Plateau with a friend of mine. We were hoping to find a bunch of Coeranoscincus reticulatus (after my extraordinary luck with them last time). Sadly, no coeranoscincids were to be found. But we did see a bunch of other stuff...
On New Year's Eve I was kickin' it old school, by driving up a mountain to look for crocodiles. We didn't find any crocodiles, but we did come across some other reptiles. There seemed to be a few other like-minded people up the mountain. If you were up there, you may well have seen me. I was the...
Hello,
I found this little creature near a damp spot in Northern Sydney (Australia). What would his mummy look like? Is it a legless lizard or a baby snake?

Thanks for your help
Here is the second post of herps that I have seen in the Wollongong area in the last 3 years.
One of my favourites here is the Southern Leaf-tailed Gecko (Phyllurus platurus). These geckos seem to be active much of the year.

Drove up to Malaney in the Sunshine coast hinterland today. Used Google maps to plot the course which was properly a mistake as it sent us up a dirt road that turned out to be a no through road.
Anyhow, going round a bend and there is a snake across the road. No way to brake or avoid so...

Hi everyone
I hope the group doesn't mind me joining to ask a question. I found a small snake (or legless lizard - I wouldn't know) under my house recently and am hoping someone might recognise it and be able to identify it for me. If it's a juvenile snake then I suppose I better start looking...
Hi all this is my first posting!! We live on the Illawarra escarpment and while not a snake lover or keeper we like to be able to identify the snakes we come across. One small snake is making this dificult. They? appear under the dog kennel grey in colour cream under belly? Never longer than 30...
