Hi all,
Its been a while since i have put a post up, so I will try and put everything from the year in one
big post. There will be a few areas of Australia covered. I am still working in Mount Isa in
North-west Queensland, however I am now living in Brisbane. This change has given me a...
Went on the Cape York Herpetological Society field trip at the Mareeba Wetlands last night, there was only four people in total but we saw four Keelbacks, a Water python, a Darwin carpet python, a Brown bicarinate rainbow-skink, a Northern velvet gecko, a brush tail, about a dozen tarantulas...
Here some reptile and other animal photos I've taken from around central QLD recently,

So I went to a spot I've been to a few times, but after the rain alot of frogs came out. Probably the highlight of the night was watching an echidna do his/her thing for a little while, without even worrying about me.
And of course the endless amount of keelbacks hah, probably saw 60-70...
In continuation from my previous posts, here is the 2nd to last chapter of a herping trip myself and a few friends went on from October-December 2010. Previous posts found below.

Thought that I would post some pictures of some of the herps I've encountered during field work at a site in central Queensland over the last two years.
1. Varanus panoptes (or gouldii)
2. Carlia sp.
3. Gehyra dubia
4. Diporiphora bilineata (south of its known range but recorded at this site...
These are the frogs that we encountered on the trip, because of the wet weather there were frogs everywhere and we didn't stop for many so I'm sure many species were missed.
I have attempted to ID some of the frogs but others I have no idea. If somebody could give a positive identification on...
I decided to spend a few hours this arvo looking for assorted wildlife, and found these critters. I DID come across 4 assorted snakes, but they were too quick for me- one was a dark olive on top with bright yellow belly, another had colourful yellowish and brown vertical banding and the other...
as the title suggests this is about the lightning ridge field trip. majority of the group was north copast herp society adn the other 4 people were hawkesberry herps. the trip was organised by hawkesberry group and north coast was invited to come along an in the end we made up the numbers. all...
This year I've been out to the southern brigalow belt twice. Once to look for pale-headed snakes (which slacker has already mentioned), and another time to look for yakka skinks. Both trips were successful. My yakka skink trip took place over the long weekend, and I saw three new species (new to...
As I mentioned in the first post, we drove an enormous distance in a few days. That, of course, meant many hours of sitting in the car. Naturally, in the dry areas, we saw a fair number of animals on the road. Watching for these or occasional quick stops helped us pass the time while we drove...
A huge thunderstorm hit the Windorah area on the afternoon as we approached from the south. Flash floods cut the road for awhile in the afternoon until the water levels dropped once again. We arrived late so we weren't delayed but we could see debris on the road. There were pools on the sides...
Hey all,
I have two different frogs i need identification on. The first was found on a pretty cool night (Origin Night), under my awning, about 50m from the Mary River. The second was found in the same location, however this was last night and while the area under my awning is partly flooded...
I only just noticed this forum had been
created..
Photos taken during the 07/08 season.
During several weeks of intense rain it was
mostly frogs, instead of reptiles seen.

I was recently out at Idalia and saw some herps :) I wasnt sure on the ID of the following critters.
I was thinking narrow banded sand swimmer, G.variegata and bynoes?
I headed out to the Brigalow Belt in Queensland to meet some friends of ours and see what cool critters we could find. I've been out to this particular spot a few times, but have never managed to see a De Vis' banded snake (Denisonia devisi), despite this area being well-known for this snake...
