Been reading a little about venomous snakes delivering dry bites. It would appear some do this more than others. My question is. Is this something a snakes makes a 'choice' to do or is it just the luck of the draw as to whether your day is going to turn bad?.
Kindest regards

Thought I'd start a specific thread to see what interest people have in joining The Darling Downs Herpetological Society. This society will mainly focus on education and field herpetology with a strong aim towards local and national reptile conservation projects and beginner education in regards...
Hi guys,
Tonight I unfortunately got myself into a situation where I was able to bitten by my denisonia devisi "Addie."
In order to get her to feed I first have to grab her behind the head and place the rat in front of her mouth until she grabs it. I wear gloves made from suede that cover most...
Does AAE or Qantas freight deliver to you door or do they just deliver to your airport. My airport is across town and I don't have a license, so it would be good to know.

I found this snake curled up on my kitchen floor this morning at 7.30am. Not sure if one of our cats brought it inside or not as one of our cats was happy to wonder over and sniff it and seem very unafraid and possessive of it. It is approximately 40cm long, has a distinct diamond shaped head...

I've just returned from two weeks of poking around near Dalby. Here are some pics. This was a work trip, so the camera didn't get as much use as I would have liked. Reptiles/amphibians I saw but didn't photograph are:

As many of you know I try and go out herping on most Tuesday nights. Well last Tuesday was no exception but the animals were exceptional.

This year I've been out to the southern brigalow belt twice. Once to look for pale-headed snakes (which slacker has already mentioned), and another time to look for yakka skinks. Both trips were successful. My yakka skink trip took place over the long weekend, and I saw three new species (new to...

I headed out to the Brigalow Belt in Queensland to meet some friends of ours and see what cool critters we could find. I've been out to this particular spot a few times, but have never managed to see a De Vis' banded snake (Denisonia devisi), despite this area being well-known for this snake...
