Hey guys,
I'm new here but I've been keeping snakes and lizards a while now. About two years ago I bought a python in a suburb west of Melbourne. It was being cared for after a rescue from a neglectful owner. The new owner had a couple of other reptiles in the house as well, including some very...
Hi all,
So basically, a few changes have occurred. We might not be moving at all (whoo) or be moving to a smaller house than we thought. This means that sadly, and olive python may not be a realisable goal as of now.
So I'm seizing the opportunity for lizards. I'm looking for something that:

I was dog sitting at a mates place, when I came across a strange looking garden skink. I know there are Grass skinks (L. guichenoti) and Eastern Blue tongued skinks in their backyard but this one was different. It looked like a Grass skink except it was larger and more robust. It had the same...
God I love this place,
The people are so friendly, and it is just a beautiful place overall. Visiting the market, we bought some delicious homemade jams and relishes and some wood burnt art from a very talented elderly woman.
But, I wanted herps, and so far, I have a few, but no photos. I was...
My skinks have UVB150 compacts , the beardies have UVB200 compacts.
Been using these for nearly 3 years , seem to be doing the job and are very reliable .
What do you use ?
Remember this thread:- https://aussiepythons.com/forum/showthread.php/170641-Wild-Monitor/page2? ?
That was possibly some of the most entertaining reading I have ever had on here. Second to that would have been the thread about "Lizzie" the EWS.
I wonder what that crazy cat ianinoz is up to now.
Headed up to Pambula in southern New South Wales for afew weeks in January.
Behind many of the residential houses the area was cleared with many fallen logs.
this made good habitat for many lizards, snakes and frogs.

Okay so I got a little spotted python hatchy and he doesn't eat. Ive done everything possible so I don't need suggestions on things I should be doing to get him to eat. Like Ive said, I have tried everything and I know what im doing.
I have resorted to assist feeding. I find that feeding him a...
Well after a few months of waiting I managed to secure a take from the wild permit to get some Garden Skinks (Lampropholis guichenoti) and wondering if there is any love from others out there for this lil' active fella's.
hi guys,
so we all know some times we have to make the decision to feed a live rodent to save the life of a reptile. (I have never done it my self) I have always thought it was legal but just not ethical.
I agree 100% if it will save the reptiles life then it should be done.
Is there any...
I have read a lot about the Lampropholis guichenoti and the Lampropholis delicata but I still can't seem to tell the two apart. I would be greatly appreciative to anyone who can tell me the ID features of these two common skink species and the easiest ways to tell them apart. I have attached two...
This thing climbed up my dads hand when he put it against a large boulder on a walk called the "venus Baths" in the Grampians.
it looks like a garden skink without any bands.
These are everywhere around my area atm, i caught this one last night, and no i wasn't rough it, it dropped its tail as soon as my hand approached it.
i could go outside right now and probably find one.
I didn't think they had any business being in the Liverpool area?

Hello All,
Once again I have been tasked with something I am completely unfamiliar with in terms of captive care.
I will be shortly required to attempt to look after an injured bandy bandy and would love if anyone can help with a few things please only answer if you are competent.

This might sound a bit strange, but I was in the middle of feeding my geckos, and noticed this black thin tail behind my bookshelf so I grabbed it and pulled it out and to my surprise it was a little skink, just don't know what kind though I'm thinking garden skink or something, I did have a...

Hey guys, i have a 2ft long x 2ft high x 1.5ft deep Exo-Terra tanks i want to have some use out of it so i was wondering what reptiles could live in this for its whole life? is there any type of Pygmy Monitor that could live in it?
Cheers Caleb.
Ok, besides beardies, water dragons, netteds, frillies, and the forest dragons, what other dragons do you breed?
We do red-barred, painted and jacky.
Curious to know what others have.
Who fed my garden skinks steroids? Own up now.

I spent 3 weeks in Melbourne over Christmas 2012 visiting the girlfriends family but managed to make my excuses and sneak out as much as possible. Sorry for the generic descriptions under the pictures but I just copy/pasted them from Flickr. I live in the UK and most of the people seeing these...
Hey, I got some shots from around my campus (Ipswich), the house, and a couple of other places. So I was wondering if I could get some IDs. For the insects, I suppose they're here more for interest, but if I can get an ID, that would be awesome. Camera was just the one on my phone, so nothing...
Just a few more Melbourne herping pics from these summer holidays which are unfortunately over and which went way to quick. Can't complain though as I had a good time.

So I was giving the dog a bath and noticed a large hole in the dirt. We have had quite a lot of Wolf spiders at the moment and the kids are a little worried about em so I put the hose down it to see if it would come out.... as you do!

Hello herp lovers!
I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to ID what is most likely a very simple ID for anyone who knows skinks. Location: North West Sydney suburban garden. Sorry about the quality, I've only got a point-and-click camera. Hopefully it's good enough.
Thanks!
This skink is about one and a half times the size of Lampropholis delicata. The red mark behind the forelegs appears to be a natural coloration, and not an injury. The lizard is in the sub-tropical rainforest at Mount Warning, NSW. Please identify.
Hi guys I know these little fellas don't come up for sale very often but I am curious as to how much they would cost? If anybody has any idea please let me know, or even if you don't know the actual selling how much to you personal think they'd be worth? I wouldn't mind getting myself a few...
Found this little guy today when we were cleaning up some equipment in the field. To be honest I have never seen anything like it and the possibility of it happening has never even crossed my mind but it was interesting from a reptile enthusiests perspective (Not so much my colleagues who call...
I found this snake curled up on my kitchen floor this morning at 7.30am. Not sure if one of our cats brought it inside or not as one of our cats was happy to wonder over and sniff it and seem very unafraid and possessive of it. It is approximately 40cm long, has a distinct diamond shaped head...

This ID will seem a bit ridiculous, but am I correct in ID-ing this as a Garden Skink (Lampropholis delicata)? It was photographed in Melbourne's east. I see these guys all the time and always think of them as Garden Skinks, but today I wanted to follow more of a taxanomical process, rather...
