Once upon a time a princess called Belle~Belinda started a thread making a story chain.
LETS DO THIS!
Once upon a time, I (BredliFreak) was walking from Canberra to Castle Hill for the expo, but when I arrived at Wollongong I encountered...
Lets try and get this 100 pages long, thats the...
Some pictures from herping and random adventures over the past while I guess. Done a bit of stuff here and there and photos some places and what not.
Post is somewhat lengthy already so not much info with each picture. If you want a bit more follow the flickr link and most have a more lengthy...
Figured I would put up some photos of some snakes I own to see if we can get this plan on a roll again.
Annoyingly the uploader was not working correctly and was failing to load most of my images so most of these are old photos.
Cheers Cameron
Given we see the admonishment of newbies on here for ignorance, I am throwing it open to admit a mistake you have made re your reptiles over the years.
I will start the ball rolling by admitting my mistake in understanding the size of a mouse or rat a python can eat. Even after weighing the...
Well this is something that I hope I never have to witness again, but my BHP has decided to eat her fresh faeces this morning... What I want to know is what health issues I should keep an eye out for in the next few days?
Thought I'd start a specific thread to see what interest people have in joining The Darling Downs Herpetological Society. This society will mainly focus on education and field herpetology with a strong aim towards local and national reptile conservation projects and beginner education in regards...
Obviously people feed rodents but what else do people feed their snakes. Iv heard of people feeding chicken necks, quails, pigeons and I even remember seeing photos of Paul feeding a jungle broccoli!
What else do people feed their snakes!
So recently I've been doing a bit of herping here and there. My aim for herping this year was to get my list of species of Australian reptiles seen (and positively ID'd) to 200 species. Having completed this earlier this year (in a thread yet to be posted), I decided to head to Qld with some...
This was raised on an international forum so I thought I would bring the question over here.
I know this a contentious issue with Pythons so what about with our Elapids?
I don't know much about natural intergrade zones within the Elapid family though have heard of the possibility with...

On a walk through Barrington Tops this week, we spotted 11 snakes on one day, 8 clearly being red bellies. We did not see enough of 2 to identify, but the last one I can't identify. Can anyone help please. It was about a metre long and seen at about 300m elevation in the eastern side of the...
I take it this is a black headed python, but not 100%.
My fathers friend shot it thinking it was a western taipan.
It was at Glen Lyon dam near Texas, QLD.
Been looking at afew international sites and am seeing so many builders of PVC/Polyethylene plastic reptile cages such as Constrictors Northwest etc but dont want to really want to buy international but they are just so much cheaper with the Aussie dollar going so strong.
But is there any...

Over the weekend myself and a few friends went on a herping trip out to the Brigalow area of QLD to see what reptiles we could find and to try and tick off a few new species. The weekend was a pretty big success with a handful of new reptiles seen and photographed for me!

Ok, so I was talking to a mate of mine and flicking through the elapid thread, and it got me wondering, how many female ven keepers are actually out there? That actually own them on their license and not just their other halves owning them etc...? And got into keeping hots, on their own accord...
I found it interesting in what type of anti vens are used for different species ....
Immunotype
Treatment of snakebite in a clinical setting depends in part on the immunotype to which the speces belongs. The Snake Venom Detection Kit (SVDK) helps with determining this information...
These are the snakes we encountered on our trip. Unfortunatly we didn't see a great deal and only one managed to escape without a photo but it was the only live Western Brown Snake that we came across.
Would also be interested in hearing any records of just how far west Coastal Carpet pythons...

I've just returned from two weeks of poking around near Dalby. Here are some pics. This was a work trip, so the camera didn't get as much use as I would have liked. Reptiles/amphibians I saw but didn't photograph are:
-Diplodactylus vittatus
-Pseudechis guttatus
-Carlia foliorum...
I was recently having a discussion with mate about the top 10 most dangerous snakes in the world, he does not think Australia is home to more than half of the top10. so can anyone name the top 10 most dangerous snakes in the world?
G'day guys.
About 2.5 years ago i bought a yearling coastal carpet python. At first he fed and sloughed really well, but leading into winter a couple of years ago he went off his food.
I thought this was just because of winter, but he didn't eat again until the end of october. Since then i...
hey everyone . i was just wondering if anyone knows anything about a black snake with a blue and creamy underbelly .. i have seen a couple of them out my way ( dubbo ) and cant say i have seen them before .. there really dosile and you almost have to kick them just to get them to get moving out...
This year I've been out to the southern brigalow belt twice. Once to look for pale-headed snakes (which slacker has already mentioned), and another time to look for yakka skinks. Both trips were successful. My yakka skink trip took place over the long weekend, and I saw three new species (new to...
We went for a drive over the weekend past dalby to lake broadwater, not to bad of a day but didn't see as much as we expected, found about 100 H.Binoei - Bynoes Gecko, these guys were absoloutley everywhere, Also found a Varanus Panoptes, and 3 Pseudechis Guttatus within 30 minutes of each other...
Hi all
I just come back from Western NSW and rescued this 'black snake' from my cousins property. It did not have Red (or any other color) on its underbelly. Is it possible to get a black snake without the colors I have come to expect out in Western NSW? Do Blue Bellys frequent that area...
