One of my 10 month old Ridge-tailed Monitors has one claw which is curling back.
It looks like it can't wear down naturally as the claw does not contact the ground on the point.
I will probably leave trimming this to a vet as it is very difficult to see where the blood vessel ends and I think it still curls even at that point.
The toe seems to be normal and can grip around my finger if the claw is not in the way.
Has any one seen this sort of thing?
I am wondering if the claw will ever grow straight and if it may be better to have the claw removed to make sure the growth of the toe is not affected?

what substraight do you use? iv seen some deformed feet from newspaper floorings

I use crushed marble at the moment because I had heaps from when I kept marine tanks ( coral sand substitute ) and I will change over to dessert sand when they move to their larger home. They also have a large hide / rock formation I made with a rough concrete render finish so they have plenty of opportunity to wear their claws naturally.
I doubt substrate is the issue. It is just this one claw, all other claws are fine. The other ackie in the same enclosure has no problems either.
It may have damaged the nail if hooked by it when climbing up some fake plants or the felt edge between the sliding door ( they could slip between 5mm door track glass when I first got them )

Put a thin
Ayer of sand enough for digging do not wet it but make sure there are lots of hides
