hi all i have a 4yr old female bredli who is 2weeks out of hibernation. she isnt acting normal and is going to the vets tomorrow. she has her tail tightly in a knot and wont release it she also is moving only the first foot of her body and wont straightn out. i was just in checking on her and she is trying to have a taste sample of me but just flops backwards when she stands up she is 6ft . she seems very allert just her body wont allow her. her enclosure is 32 hot spot 24 cold end 27 in centre. any help is appreciated as iam fearing the worst

that sounds scary mate, the vet is the way to go, quarantine big time also.

but help wise: all you can do is basic first aid, which is keeping the snake warm and hydrated. and hope that this isnt one of the dreaded viruses. if i was you i would jut get i to the vet sooner rather then later, and get them treating it as soon as possible, i know at my clinic we offer after hrs and we also will fit in emergencies and i would consider this an emergency. but other then that that is about all i can say

that is an emergency!!!! but its all right a bit of cold will be good for them, its called metabolic rest :p

thanks helikaon she was already quarantined when i first spotted this. trouble is the best vet is over 2hrs drive away as the local vets no nothing of reptiles. my biggest concern is she has been in my collection for a few years with out anynew comers until this season. maybee i have some quarantine issues to adress hope it isnt anything to severe but will keep you posted

yeah i think it would be worth the trip mate, i'll be honest with you in that i personally would not feel confident treating a snake with those symptoms and my first action would be a referral to a very good herp vet. its a hard one in deed, there would definitely be other possible reasons for these symptoms, but a bit out of my league. but i am very interested in it if you could pm me any photos, videos or anything similar that would be great, i know this probably sounds pretty insensitive but i would rather learn from illnesses rather then forget about them.

thanks all for replies helikaon im just getting her ready to take to a vet down at west wallsend a few people have recommended this vet to me. have you heard anything about them?
