After a big weekend the last hing we felt like doing was going anywhere, but we had promised Tilly that we'd take her to the reptile park as her Aunts were supposed to take her on the Sunday but had come down with Gastro, leaving one very upset 4 yr old.

It ended up being the best afternoon i have ever had (and Tilly has had too.) ! Her aunts knew one of the guys that worked there and had explained the situation to him, and he went above and beyond the call of duty, letting us hold and pat animals and get our pics taken (for nothing! usually $20 each) with various animals! He even called Tilly in to be his volunteer in the reptile show!!!

here she is getting up close to a koala.

And here is my new personal favorite exotic! the Tegu.

Lucky Tilly. Even luckier Sezzzzzzzz. :)

Looks like you had a great day!

We are making a family weekend of SOFAR and travelling to Gosford to check out the Aust Reportile Park on the Saturday, then back to Newcastle on the Sunday. We hope we enjoy the park - I am certain my kids will love it regardless!

Our local Herp club have organised a trip to the Aust Reptile Park in April (I think in conjunction with the Hawksbury Club) and I believe there may be some 'extra' behind the scenes viewing being arranged also. They sound like a good bunch that run the park by the way they look after fellow herpers.

That looks like a Black/White Tegu, wait until you see a Red:)! Though, if you're getting gouldii or a flavi, you won't miss anything.

Awesome stuff Sarah! That will be an experience Tilly will remember.

I would recommend that you bring lunch (there's bbqs and a lovely area to sit) as the food there is crap and very expensive. but other than that its a great day out!

I have asked for the behind the scenes tour for mothers day! cant wait.

Just talked to hubby and i think we are going to go to SOFAR as well! fingers crossed!
