I read an article in today's paper that volunteers weeding out bushland in Port Macquarie found a bearded dragon with a nail from a nail gun in its head. The dragon was alive and seemed well. Critics claim the nail could only have gotten in him from being shot at with the nail gun. Some low life shot at him and left him to suffer

On the same page, a teenager broke into a school overnight and terrorised the school's animals. Killed a lamb and left another alive, but with horrific injuries, including a broken leg. The lamb was taken to the vet but had to be put down.

I really don't understand people that can enjoy hurting innocent lives, and watch them suffer.

God thats horrible. I dont understand it either. Kids who enjoy torturing animals will probably grow up to be serial killers.
My friend is literally the type of person who rips the wings off flies. He rips them off and puts it on the ground and watches it roll around before squishing it to peices. I know its only a fly, but it worries me since its pretty sadistic.

I just feel like people who are able to do something like that MUST be of a different species - or subspecies at least.
My mind can't even fathom the idea of going out and doing something like that I have a hard enough time watching an ant go down the plug in the shower lol.

What I'd like to know is, what kind of punishment is that kid in for? I bet it's nothing.

That is so sad to hear why would anyone enjoy going out their way to kill or seriously harm animals, kids who enjoy harming or killing animals, end up later in life as murderers where they try and harm or kill humans.

People like this should be locked up in prison for life or be given the death sentence, when l hear of anyone killing animals for fun to empress their mates, l myself feel like doing the same to them and would if l knew who they are and where they lived.

People feeling the need to harm defenseless animals for whatever reason are pathetic, i only wish that it was legal to inflict the same injuries they put animals through upon them. I'd volunteer for that job lol.

There's a big difference between unnecessary terrorisation and necessary culling.
For one, I don't think they'd do it with a nail gun.

Theres a line between killing something for some sort of sadistic pleasure that I will never be able to understand (or even want to understand) and culling an animal back to save defenseless creatures, people who kill or injure animals for the sick pleasure for it need serious psychiatric help, they're the sociopaths and psychopaths of todays society, it makes me sick. I don't want to kill them because of what they do like some previous previous commenters, they need to be locked up and taken away from mainstream society so that us and all the innocent animals of Australia can live in safety and peace.

Mate, I've argued this left right and centre.

But there is a huge difference from humanely dispatching vs animal cruelty.

My point has been brought up numerous times in 'toad' threads. I am yet to see a majority of Australians take on board that the unnecessary torture of animals (even if they're feral) needs to stop.

So my feeling is simple - dispatch of ferals humanely and with the least amount of pain.

When I was at school I used to listen to kids on the bus talking about what they did to flies. Sometimes they'd experiment, ripping off only one wing to see what happened or painting white-out on the eyes, or combinations thereof. Most of the kids found it very funny. I wanted to be sick.

But that's still completely unnecessary. Fair enough to shoot a feral cat, I have no problem with that as long as it was as humane as physically possible for that situation. If someone takes out a nail gun to kill a cat then they're just as bad as the rest of those sickos imo.

They also talk about sticking grass up a flys bum and watching it try to move... to be honest I dunno how they even find the flys bum haha.
