It seems I have a nack of buying female pythons that are supposed to be male. I bought a 7' "MALE" diamond python about 2 months ago.

I had it sexed today as to confirm that he was a he, well he is a she. out of 7 snakes (various Morelia breeds) I only have one male, what are the odds of that.

It's funny that so many herpers dont have a clue about what they are selling or are just plain lieing, not the first time I've been lied to.

I was even told that this snake had fathered a cluthch a few years ago by yet another previous owner, abviously another lie from a person wanting to get rid a snake.

Besides being 500g over weight she was in general poor health and infestted with a cronic case of mites and the beginings of canker.

Now after 2 months this poor snake is found to be a female. Not that I am complaining about scoring a big female Diamond, but now I have 2 females that will hopfully breed this year, but they dont have the right bits to make babies.

SOOO!!!!! Does anyone have any pure "MALE" diamond pythons, and yes :) I mean a real male.

I am looking for a very black male with refined rosette markings.no stripes circles or blothes as I am trying to breed a specific looking diamond.

I am looking for a MALE that looks something like this female.

Basically I would like to buy a good quality adult male diamond python for breeding with my 2 females.

I would even consider a loan situation/deal for your male to stud my females.
I will be living in Sydney Southeast suburbs
(I am moving back to Sutherland Shire in about 1 month)

3rd time lucky I hope

Playwell, i have never seen a male diamond reach 7 feet. Its the females that reach that size, males are usually a lot smaller and thinner. Regarding diamonds, cloacal spur size is a dead give away to the sex of the animal.

Yeh I know but the big girl has quite large spurs. Looks heaps like my male that died of cancer, even my vet thought she was a male b4 probing.
Size is not acruate way for judging sex as some snakes can grow unusually large for thier species.

Did you ever see that pic of the huge one found of few years ago. From memory it was well over 10 foot.

How are your Diamonds going, did the vet get to bottom of the problem.

I can't believe you picked the shire to come back to Playwell. just kidding.
I'm the same with my animals. Every animal i buy turns out to be the same sex as what i have already got. I've given up.
Good luck with your Diamond search.

Simone

Diamonds are a girls best friend.

Yeh I grew up in the shire. I've lived in many parts of Sydney from East to West and I am living in northern NSW (Tweed Coast)at the moment.

But I gotta return to Sydney so the shire is the go. I cant wait to get back, but I will miss the warm weather up here.

Yes Playwell females diamonds do get quite large spurs, but they dont "hook" round like male spurs.

I am still waiting for results from the vet regarding my diamonds but i think they will reveal the true culprit to their illness once and for all. My most beloved diamond is only just hanging in, and inside i'm screaming!! I'm back to the vets on Tues.

good luck with the vet, hope you can get this sorted as it's been going on for a while now.

Lets us know the outcome if you can.

Thanks
Craig
