Jonny,
Work experience at the reptile park is great but you are very limited in what you can do or handle. Treatment of disease is a very high priority of the park's. Absolutely everything gets virkoned before and after use. And all untensils are cleaned after use (often twice a day, it was my main job  ). Upstairs is a quarantine area the is strictly authorised access only, all people who enter the room have to sign a log. Also at each access to the reptile room there are water trays to rinse shoes.
I did'nt do anything to do with autopsies but during my trip an adult alligator died and was taken off site for an autopsy. The next day, being april fools day, it ended up at the entrance to the park with a fake human leg in its mouth.
If Veterinary science is more your interest then just let them know and i'm sure they will sort something out for you. I would highly recommend it as work experience, i had plenty of laughs and learnt a fair bit.
Cheers
