Anybody know about Spider/or Insect Bites?

Hi all, I have a nasty weeping sore on my ring finger. Been there for three weeks now. Dr. did tests and reckons it an Acropod bite. I reckon it could be a White tipped Spider bite myself. We've had em here before. Possibly could have happened in bed. The sore is about 1inch long now, 3/4inch wide. Little blisters keep coming up, and the sore keeps spreading out. I'm using Bactroban Ointment, which seems to be doing stuff all to cure it. I'm gonna go back to the Dr. again next week if no improvement. Its also damn itchy.!! Grrrr!! Cheers Cheryl

If it is not reponding then see the quack sooner. If it is a white tailed then the bite may have introduced necrosis?bacteria into the wound, in which case you can't afford to let it go.
And why do I get the feeling you should be taking care of yourself.

The white tail is a furphy but the bacteria isnt. Research has shown that white tail spider bites are no more responsible for necrosis that any ither spider bite.
Saying that, a film crew from NZ I worked with the producer spent a week in hospital after being bitten by one. See your doctor.

You could have been bitten by any spider. But most spiders carry the necrosis bacteria.........You could even have been bitten by a black house spider and got the wound.........It definitely sounds to me like you have a small dose of necrosis in your finger....I would go to my doctor or the local hospital......they love investigating spider bites. It helps them learn more about the differences in the bites..............hope this helps you

I would definitely be seeing the docs asap.I remember the same mate i mentioned got bitten by a snake and neglected by the ambulance guys in the"Don't be Silly" thread also got bitten by something many years later and went to the docs a few hours later with a festered up area on the inside of his ankle about the size of the base of a coffee cup full of puss.I can't recall exactly what it was but i think some form of antibiotics and it cleared up pretty quickly.I am told if left untreated the white tails spider bite can do some masty damage,and from what i saw just a few hours after the bite i was quite shocked!!!

The sore on your finger doesn't look like what i saw and i'd expect after this long a white tail spider bite might've spread a lot more than that and looked a lot worse but that is just a bit of an educated guess.Everyone can react to these things differently i guess...

Ok, been out for a couple of birthday drinks. Saw a Doc again this arvo cos, that horrible looking sore on finger was not getting better at all. More swabs for another culture in the Lab at Berri. On very strong antibiotics. Have been asked to come back in 48 hrs if no improvement after antibiotics.( only had 3 Bundy Cans OK? - Still sober) I am putting some Ti Tree Oil on finger, which seems to be drying it up a bit. Hope it looks a bit better in the morning. Cheers Cheryl

Yeah, very yucky! Will see how I go after the nominated 48 hrs of the antibiotics. If no better then, back to the Docs ok?
