Hey dude, long time no chat! Hows the new uni course treating you?

Cheers, Alan. ;)

Well, I'm now two days into my honours course, it's based at Melbourne U but I'm doing a few days at Monash U early on. Monash is really awesome! I wish I had done my degree there! I was in one of their labs this afternoon and look what I found!

This one is like the original 'Commando penguin' which triggered the whole snap thing last year (who remembers the pre penguin days when everyone thought I was normal? )

Well, these were taken about three hours ago (look closely, you can see the clock :) ) This is possibly the best student lab I've ever been in.

Emperor penguin!

There's an even larger penguin on display at Melbourne uni, I've been meaning to get around to taking some pictures for a couple of months now.

Sdaji, do you think people will first complain about penguin abuse or you wasting tax payers' dollars by playing with penguins instead of working?

Good question! Probably something about penguins being abused for science, but they'll always find something to complain about! (Ironically, the exceptions come when you put in a public prediction that they will   )

Here is my new friend, I met him in the lab this afternoon and he is also a victim of science. They had a bearded dragon outside the lab, I suppose he is also a victim of us evil biologists :p No, I didn't bother getting him out for a cuddle or taking any pictures (feel free to go by APS law and assume that he isn't really there ;) )

In the first pic, what is behind that penguin???

It looks to me as it is some type of lizard with an elizabethen collar on

maybe im going crazy too from studying too hard for these damn exams :x

no worries all finished by 10:30am tomorrow 8)

You're not far off. It's a taxidermied lizard with an impromptu Elizabethan collar some student made out of a scrap of paper and a cable tie :)

Yeah, I found it amusing too

There was a whole series of them on that bench. You can see the one next to it has a large cigarette (okay, joint :p ) sticking out of its mouth (made from paper and sphagnum moss I think).

Nerd humour is great!

That's a badly taxidermied Emperor Sdaji. The jiz is more like a King.

So what are you doing for your Honours?

:p

Hix

With the way you are holding and looking at that penguin I think it is a good thing penguins live in a land far far away where it is very cold. A Sdaji-penguin intergrade - how nasty?

u can see im turning into a vet nerd

And what is wrong with being a vet nerd (apart from having no life, no friends and hobbies that you neighbours think are illegal, unethical and just plain wierd)

lmfao that is one of the funniest things i have heard in ages danny thanks for the laugh.

I did some work at Monash years ago assisting a tech in the next office with a little penguin weighing machine. (That is a weighing machine for weighing the "Little" or "Fairy" penguins as they trek'd to and from the burrows at Phillip Island.)

Could some fellow sicko please do a photoshop on how that big penguin would look with sdaji's hair. I just can't get it done with my program at work. Please, just to quence my curiosity (and possibly to ease the mind of sdaji's mother).
