Here is a different view of some of the Australian lizards. Macro shots often reveal intricate patterns that are not so obvious in the normal full-body or portrait photographs. When examined like this, these lizards seem to be living, breathing works of art.
1) Eastern Spiny-tailed Gecko (Strophurus williamsi), 2) Soft Spiny-tailed Gecko (Strophurus spinigerus), 3) Western Spiny-tailed Gecko (Strophurus strophurus)
4) Western Spiny-tailed Gecko (Strophurus strophurus), 5) Beaked Gecko (Rhynchoedura ornata), 6) Western Smooth Knob-tailed Gecko (Nephrurus levis occidentalis)
7) Western Smooth Knob-tailed Gecko (Nephrurus levis occidentalis), 8) Eastern Smooth Knob-tailed Gecko (Nephrurus levis levis), 9) Box-patterned Gecko (Lucasium steindachneri)
1) Gibber Gecko (Lucasium byrnei), 2) White-spotted Ground Gecko (Lucasium alboguttatum), 3) White-spotted Ground Gecko (Lucasium alboguttatum)
4) Prickly Gecko (Heteronotia binoei), 5) Tree Dtella (Gehyra variegata), 6) Fat-tailed Gecko (Diplodactylus conspicillatus)
7) Tessellated Gecko (Diplodactylus tessellatus), 8) Beautiful Gecko (Diplodactylus pulcher), 9) Western Stone Gecko (Diplodactylus granariensis)
1) Kluge's Gecko (Diplodactylus klugei), 2) Eastern Stone Gecko (Diplodactylus vittatus), 3) Kluge's Gecko (Diplodactylus klugei)
4) Ornate Stone Gecko (Diplodactylus ornatus), 5) Western Stone Gecko (Diplodactylus granariensis), 6) Lesueur's Velvet Gecko (Oedura lesueurii)
7) Ocellated Velvet Gecko (Oedura monilis), 8)Broad-tailed Gecko (Phyllurus platurus), 9) Thick-tailed Gecko (Underwoodisaurus milii)
1) Ocellated Velvet Gecko (Oedura monilis), 2) Ocellated Velvet Gecko (Oedura monilis), 3) Central Bearded Drago (Pogona vitticeps)
4) Western Hooded Scaly-foot (Pygopus nigrisceps), 5) Western Hooded Scaly-foot (Pygopus nigriceps), 6) Strophurus krisalys
7) Jewelled Gecko (Strophurus elderi), 8) Gould's Monitor (Varanus gouldii), 9) Gould's Monitor (Varanus gouldii)
1) Central Netted Dragon (Ctenophorus nuchalis), 2) Ctenotus sp., 3) Spotted Military Dragon (Ctenophorus maculatus)
4) Tessellated Gecko (Diplodactylus tessallus), 5) Nobbi Dragon (Amphibolurus nobbi), 6) Central Military Dragon (Ctenophorus isolepis)

I think that the following is the most spectacular of all Australian lizards and to me, it is the epitome of Australian reptiles. It has amazing colours, pattern and texture and it has adapted to one of the most hostile parts of the world where summer temperatures hover at 40C+ for weeks at a time. It is, of course, Moloch horridus.
