Heya all just got back from Melbourne. Went to the melbourne zoo while i was down there and did the behind the scene's reptile tour was great. Got to hold a few exotic species. Took over 600 photos while down there so may post a few up soon.

Also went on a little shopping spree while down there. Luckily we drove down so was able to take it all back up and I applied for export permit beforehand. Im now a proud owner of Spotted pythons, Whites skinks and Bynoes geckos. I also did a ittle herping on the way up and down but failed to see anything other then birds.

Hopefully will have 20 species by the end of this year.

umm stupid question... but which zoo is it at? and how do you get to go on the behind the scenes thing.... and how much is it?

its my bday soon... i think i need a holiday :D

I was at the Melbourne zoo on Saturday. I was quite dissapointed with the reptile display. I think the only Australian pythons they had were a pair of bhp's and a rough scaled python. I also managed to see the large Iguana climbing all over the boa constrictor:shock: Another intersting pairing was brown tree snakes and the taipan:shock: The emerald tree boas looked pretty cool. Was a good day out still. Yesterday spent the day at the Melbourne Aquarium @#$%ing awsome!

I did a behind the scenes of the reptiles at Taronga- that's what originally got me onto the whole I-want-a-pet-snake thing. It was really cool.

It was at melbourne zoo. they only do the behind scenes on wednesday and from memory its about $70 per person.

Yeah I was looking at it a while ago. It's one of many behind the scene things. All zoos in Melbourne including the Werribee Open Range Zoo, Melbourne Zoo and the Hillsville Sanctuary all do behind the scenes tours. If you search one it'll bring all of them up to choose from.

pics or it didnt happen... nah im joking but look forward to seeing some of those pics!! What sort of exotics?

I did the behind-the-scenes Reptile tour (At the Melb Zoo) and thought it was really worthwhile! It was interesting to see how the Zoo's reptile keepers handle their daily routines, feeding and housing set-ups. I got to handle a few exotic animals I'd probably never have gotten my hands on so that made it quite different to anything else I'd experienced before.

You reckon! I went maybe a year ago and thought it was crap! Over priced and boring. Nothing special at all imo!!!!

Yep after seeing all of those great photos there was really nothing to see………8) :? You see all that stuff on Petlink right? And the keepers are always walking around and answering questions when you pop in and visit the zoo anyway? Yeah?
