I went to some "native gardens" (it was basically bush) in Phillip Island area with my family last weekend, sort of for the family to catch up for fathers day and for them to see me before my b-day, it was nice. Lots of signs warning about snakes but it wasn't a good day for them. But we did see this little guy, I think its a Southern Brown Bandicoot, what do you peoples think? It was in the picnic area scavenging a meal, quite used to humans and it was a very quick little animal, never sat still.
cheers, jords

when camping at a caravan park on the Tweed Coast a few years ago, I felt something brush next to my leg while I was eating, I looked down, and there was a bandicoot, chewing on a snag I had put on the gruond. He even let me pat his back while he ate- I reckon he would have climbed on my lap if it meant food!

Yup, southern brown bandicoot. There are loads in the Adelaide Hills near me. They are really cute when they move, a sort hop-run... great picture

Thanks guys.
great photo. Thanks for sharing it. have your snakes finished digesting it yet? lol
lol, but look how sharp its claws are you'd have to knock it on the head first

Yeah Bob I was so surprised at how tame it was, it was so unexpected just popped up from nowhere and started running around our feet.

just don't blow their heads off while they are
digging divets all over the lawn thinking they
are hares or rabbits lol
