My 5mth old bearded dragon hasnt eaten in a week, she was kept in an enclosure with a boy dragon who grew a lot faster than her. They have now been seperated but she is still not eating.

Temps are perfect, she was eating well a week ago, she isnt shedding so its not that either.

Please help.

beardies can sometimes go off their food a bit. is she getting enough UV? is she moving from the hot to the cool end? the temps may be right but if she's lethargic she may not be moving to the hot end and getting the heat and UV she needs. what are you offering her?

She spends most her days under the basking light then climbs up her branches to sleep for the night. I have been feeding her crix and a lot of fresh veg, but will be picking up some woodies after work today and give them ago.

I think she is still intimadated by the big one even though he's not in their. How long will it take for her to eat if this is the case? Any tips?

if they've been separated then she should start eating soon. i suggest that about 20 minutes before you want to feed them you physically put her on the basking spot, which should be within 30cm of the heat lamp. hopefully she'll just laze around and bask for 15 or 20 minutes and get nice and warmed up, then offer her crickets or woodies, but try only 1 or 2 at a time (as they can get overwhelmed by too many at once if theyre feeling a bit sensitive). maybe even leave the room while the crickets are in there (obvs if youre confident she or the crix cant get out) - if she wouldnt eat in front of the boy, she may be a bit shy about eating with a worried dad leaning over her! (i found that out when one of mine sulked for a while - she ate the second i left the room). if she doesnt eat them after 10 or so minutes, take them out, try the whole thing the next day. she'll eventually eat.
wow that was a long post but i hope it gives you a bit of help!

Bearded dragon not eating

Baby bearded dragons sometimes want to sleep at this time of the year even if you provide all the correct lighting and food and it is difficult to tell if this is the case with your dragon. Even if they do not actually sleep they shut down to a certain extent and there is not much you can do. This has happend to me twice in the past years and they start to eat again once the warmer weather starts but it takes them longer to catch up in size to the baby dragons that do not sleep through the winter. It is important to keep baby dragons warm at night through the winter months to stop them from shutting down.

Sounds like brumation to me. Is he digging or trying to hide at times.

They are able to feel the ambient temp drop this time of yr even when temps are kept same (unless youve got them in a temp controled room).

No the girl cant see the boy anymore,.

She comes down from the branch herself once the basking spot heats up so ill try yous tips when I get home later today. Also ive tried leaving the room but came back to see crix still sitting on its head. Ill try with less food this time though.

we have had a couple really cold nights over the past week so this may also be the case.

Thanx for all the replys,

I dont want her starving to death. How long can they go with out food?

Nah havent seen her digging

She didnt eat last night either though she was a lot more active than she has been lately (running and scratching along the glass)

maybe try feeding her during the day, or put some crix in the tank before you leave for work or school whatever it is you do. ive found one of my adult females has stopped eating this week aswell and so i just open her mouth and drop a cricket in there and she chews it up..
i have five beardys in one tank and this one has been really lethargic and lazy lately.
id say its just that time of year for them :)

Still hasnt eaten any crix or woodies though she did eat some (2 mouth fulls) of rocket but not much change.

How long can they go without food? Dont want the poor little girl dieing on me.
