Is it normal for beardies to eat their own poo? I know in dogs it means they are lacking in minerals and vitamins. Is it the same in lizards? He is only 3 weeks old so maybe just curious as juvie beardies are lol.

no, its not normal.

by eating its own poo its injesting the parasites that naturally live in its gut, which increases the parasite load making ur beardy sick.

if its eating its own poo try feedign it more or getting rid of the poo as soon as it goes.

how much do u feed it?

He has salad readily available to him everyday all day and he is fed twice daily with crickets, the ones he dosent eat I leave in the enclosure during the day but catch them during the night as I don't want crickets eating a sleepy beardie's tail.

hmm, in that case its still unhealthy, try and remove the poos as soon as u can,...

Hello

Hello,

No that is definitely not normal. Are you supplementing calcium on a regular basis & providing good quality UVB lighting?
Remember, he cannot absorb calcium properly if he is not getting regular exposure to UVB lighting.

Yeah his crickets get dusted weekly and he has a repti glow 10.0 flouro tube for uv with a basking spot about 3 to 4 inches from the light and I try my hardest to get him outside in the nautral sun daily. He hasn't done it in the last week and I only saw him do it that once thanfully. He only ate the brown part not the white bit. It was strange but as I said he seems ok now.
