so, it was a great morning in adelaide both today and yesterday. the sun was shining, the birds were singing.

so i decided to put my beardie in his sun box. its a large storage tub with a sturdy ( or so i thought) chicken wire top too small for him to get through.

it has sand rocks and shaded area food water etc. i went to get him out before i went to work to find one of our cats sitting in the storage box with the chicken wire all folded in :(

my beardie is way to big for the cats to eat so must have escaped. im really worried. i have had him for 7 years now and is a dear pet. practically family. Any help or pointers on finding him would be greatly appreciated. I scattered some lettuce leaves and meal worms and crickets around the area (we have a fairly large scrubby back yard in the hills) for him to eat if he decides to.
Thanks
Rhys. :(

chuck a sicki 2moz, wait for the sun to come up and search b4 any other animals have the chance to get him

Yeah mate. Get up early and look where the morning sun is shining. They are masters of camouflage so keep your eyes peeled.

Another note though. I think people need to start being much more stringent on making escape proof enclosures(in and out). It seems to happen far too often.

yeh thanks i did that to no avail. well the sun box lid is very sturdy. as in, it has a wood frame but we have pretty large cats and that is why the top broke. i just hope he is okay. still no luck. on a side note, one of the bowls of meal worms i put out is empty. hopefully he ate them and not a magpie haha.

Keep trying hopefully youll find him b4 some scum person or as i said in my prevous post. mabey put up some posters and mabey (if you can afford it) put up a small cash reward

You should put the bowl of mealworms in some sort of makeshift trap. Similar to a live mouse trap, but bigger.

yeh i was thinking about it, but the houses in my area as sooo spaced out it will be nearly impossible for someone else to find him. our block of land alone is 5000 sq meters which makes finding him a pain in the ***. i did that bfg23 and i caught a magpie two days in a row haha.

if you lost him outside its kinda a slim fact you will not find him again, its a hard truth i know. i lost my bearded dragon outside just after christmas, i was devistated i looked everywhere for months and we only like on a acre of land that is fully fenced off. Still have not found him, but most likely he will be safe somewhere, if you have alot of logs, shrubs and pipes etc for him to hide in then there is a chance he will just be living in your garden somewhere, he will be safe from predators if he has lots of places to hide and rest.

Wow, I had my first escapee yesterday.

I walked outside to have a look at whats going on in the lizard pit and seen a bluey run off into a garden shed right next to the pit. Thought no way that must be a wild one, so I looked in the pit to find only one bluey.
Unless I can find an obvious way for the lizards to get out, It seems I either have a bluey that can jump over a meter high, or capable of instant teleportation.

oh **** sorry to hear that! hopefully you figure out how they are getting out. at least you know where he went though
