Take it to a vet, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Put a pic up, some vets and students may tell you more.

Vet man that looks bad I never seen that before I hope all goes well keep us posted is he in a glass tank Gould he of done it tubing on something coz it looks infected

no offence mate but if ur not willing to take it to the vet u shouldnt have it to begin with. thats the same as letting it starve cause u dont want to buy food. the vet isnt as expensive as u think. its not like a dog its alot cheaper

If you're only 14 with no money, then you and your parents will have to work it out. They're just as responsible for this animal if they allowed to you have it knowing your circumstances, or probably even purchased it for you.

If your parents are not willing to help then you need to do the right thing by the animal and give it to someone who has the funds to properly look after it.

I think that's a really valid point!!
If your parents allowed u to get the beardie, at your age, they must've known they'd be responsible for the expenses of the beardie too.
This guy does need a vet check & antibiotics. Otherwise, u really do need to surrender him to someone who can afford to look after him.
Get your folks to ring & get quotes re consult & antibiotics, if it's something they can't afford - let someone take it that can look after it! - sorry, nothing else for it, the beardie comes first!!!
PS Don't assume this will go away if u ignore it cause you're not game to tell your folks

Not always, the reptile vet at Karingal charges $85 for a consultation for reps that is almost double what a dog costs. When I wanted to take my hatchies in he wanted that per hatchy.

If you can't afford the vets you could try giving the reptile park a call and seeing if they could look at the little guy for you. There is also a vet near north Gosford private hospital which will give and account in emergency cases and also one in *Killarney vale and *Tuggerah. (*these did as of early last year)

I know some of you think you are saying the right thing but it is just being cruel to a 14yo kid, so lay off the high and mighty "you don't deserve a pet" thing.

Now some constructive ideas. UWS western sydney campus has a reptile house and I believe they also train vets, get in touch they may help for training. Another idea is Dr Harry Cooper from Better Homes and Gardens, he may do an episode on you. If not Scales and Tails mag has a couple of herp vets and you could ask to pay off the bill in installations. Either way it needs a vet check. Let us know how you do.:)

I think it's just being realistic instead of sugar coating it. It's not to be cruel to him, but to be fair to the animal.

He obviously wants to help his pet which is why he asked, he is concerned about his pet and giving him a serve does not help him in any way. Try giving constructive advice and remember what your mum told you "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all".

Hey guys turns out is is an big infection and ulcers on his mouth he's now on anitbiotics which he has to have every 48 hours and still isnt eating by himself he's also eating protein 3 times a day as he hasn't been eating for the last 2 weeks.

So maybe the 14yr old needed to convince his parents that the vet was the way to go????? Had we all been 'soft', what action may have been taken?
Learning curve sorry :)
