Beardie Sexing

Hi all,

My local vet is on holidays at the moment so I can't get a quote.

I was wondering how much it would cost to get my beardie sexed.

At my best guess, its a female. But my male wont mate with her onlythe other female in another tank. But I'm not sure why. so I want her sexed. I would post pics but I dont have a camera.

if anyone can help that'd be great.

Oh and they will have to take an X-Ray so id think bout $50 plus consultation
Depends on the vet thou as my vet only has charged me for 2 visits out of 6 just cos he likes the fact that i actually give a crap about my animals
He has also given me free meds on two occasions but the last time made me feel weird, so like i sais it depends on the vet cos they all charge different

I would be getting it sexed by an experienced breeder before taking it to a vet.

yes. thanks jason. i agree with you. i just dont have anyone one from aps in my area. and people on aps are the only people i know with reptiles

Beardies are sexed by licking the stomaches like Blue Tongues but the tastes are reversed(males sweet, females are bitter), . I read that in Picture, so it must be true. But be careful, beardies tummies are rough and excessive licking can cause damage to your tongue.

oh haha, ad btw the blue tongue sexing joke, made me laugh that the guy was thinking it was real for a bit. i have since sexed my beardies, succesfully. two males and two females, there behaviour is just odd for their sex imo. my big male is the nicest, my smallest female fights the most and the other two are great. thanks for the help though guys, and i now know where hobbiton is.
