Beardies not eating

i got 2 baby beardies on sunday,,,,
1 of them has eaten 1 roach since then....
the other was eating fine sunday night, but hasn't really eaten since....

what do i do?
whats the best way to get them to eat?

try young crickets pull the back legs of them so they dont jump

I would increase the basking temp(what you have is ok, but not ideal IMO)
Put the beardies in a conainer with no substrate or places for the roaches to hide, wipe a thin smear of vaseline around the top 40-50mm of the inside top edge and add roaches and beardies. You could also just modify their enclosure in a similar way.

I would give them a bit more time to settle in. Sometimes they can take a little while to be comfortable with their new enclosure. I know mine were a little stressed when i first got them. But after a week or so they were eating fine and were moving around alot more ;0)

I just got 4 new beardies and they took 3-4 days to settle in. I found mine liked crickets better than woodies. I just kept offering the salad. I also found if I fed them in their enclosure ( i took out all the hidy holes first) and that helped. I also found that they loved the small moths that I caught for them. Try them, catch little moths and let them go in your cage. They love chasing them and soon eat them. Let em know if they like them.

okay....

feeding woodies and crickets with legs pulled off... i found the crickets died eventually which makes retieval easier.
substrate is tiles
i tilted the lamp so basking temps range from 39-47 depending on how high they go
the roaches are tiny... but been using a mix, from almost too big, to ones that fit into those skinny KFC straws.
(btw does the between their eyes thing mean length or width, i have been going with length so far [ie: head at one eye **** at the other])
they seem active and alert except for not eating.
i have tried feeding them in the cage.... woodies in a small bowl, tried out of the cage in a big bucket.... tried that with the hot pack underneath and the UV light above (somehting someone else said in another thread) it mad them more active, but not eat.
i have also tried somewhere in between and put woodies in a takeaway container inside, and put the beardies into the container in their enclosure...

when they are with the bugs, they just stand there, motionless, except for occasionally yilting their head

Have you tried chopped up greens or grated carrot/pumpkin?
I never pulled the legs off my woodies.....they dont run if you do, which is what entices the beardie to chase and eat it. Sounds like the size is ok. LENGTH of the woodie between the eyes.
Try a few woodies with legs still attactched.
if the woodies run and hide under substrate this is why substrate is usually a negative with young beardies. I would just clean the cage floor completely every few days as needed and leave the floor bare.
47c is too hot for younguns......40 is better as they cant do their temp regulation thing so well when their young. they will cook.

Hello,

It normally takes a couple of weeks for them to get adjusted to their new home. How large of an enclosure are they in? They will eventually need their own tanks, but for now, make sure they always have plenty of food so they wont fight over it. Are you offering any veggies or greens yet?
I agree, 47 is too hot. I would go more with 40-43 but no higher, (95-110F) is what I usually recommend for babies. Adults usually don't like it quite as hot.
Great you have tiles instead of sand or loose substrate. Now you shouldn't have problems with impaction. Just remember to feed them crickets or woodies smaller than the space between their eyes. Correct, the length, not the width on the size of cricket or woodie.
What are you measuring the temps with? Usually the stick on types are not accurate. They only measure the air temps. I suggest using a digital probe or a temp gun for spot on basking temp measurement.
