Hi i guys i was checking out the vision website and had a look at the boa racks. Is this enough room for an adult BHP. Or is a cage a better option?:D
Thanx Jordy

That looks too small (and boring) even for adult Antaresias. Maybe it's just me, but racks for pet snakes (especially adults) put me too much in mind of battery chooks. Given the quality and reasonable price of display enclosures I have seen on this forum and elsewhere, I don't understand why pet snake owners use racks.

Thanx Derek. Anyone else. And i think some breeders use racks instead of individual cages for room.

Why would you want a rack if you just have a single BHP? The idea of racks is to make the most of space when you have multiple snakes.

Besides that, that looks way too small for a BHP.

I have 2 bhp's. And i am getting 2 more this season. I am gonna breed them. Then keep 4 of the hatchlings.

i thinks its way too small, you can get brand new 4ft enclosures around the $350 mark that look really good and have heaps of room! there's no way i would keep it in there!

i have a 4ft and a 3ft, have a juvi darwin in the 3ft and soon will have a 5ft coastal in the 4ft

think about how big an adult BHP grows. i think you can then answer your own question. it would have to be a very large tub. from the image shown i dont believe that the shown tub is anywhere near big enough. i keep my BHP's in 1200mm by 600mm enclosures, and im still thinking of up-grading to 1800mm by 600mm

Theres no way i would keep BHPs in tub racks like that, imo they would be great for Antaresias as their not a big snake, but for BHPs especially when their adults they need alot bigger than that.I plan to built some for BHPs 1800L x 600H x 600w.Just my opinion...

Hi guys these tubs are bigger than the python tubs that slithern have. I dont have the measurement here but they are massive.

Sorry, but my understanding of 'massive' does not cover tubs with a width that is only about one quarter of the snake's length and about 15-20cm high. It's a bit hard to tell from the photos how long the tubs are but they don't look much longer than they are wide. In the context of a suitable habitat for adult bhps, 'tiny' is the appropriate adjective, IMO. My guess, based just on the pictures without confirming measurements, is that the cubic volume of the tub is less than one third of the MINIMUM you should be considering for an adult bhp.

I have an adult BHP in a vivarium which measures 1500mm long 600mm high and 770mm deep. She uses every bit of this viv. I can't see that it would be appropriate to house an adult BHP in the sized enclosure you have described.

It was my understanding that, as a rule of thumb, an enclosure should be at least half the length of the snake.

Bhp My breeder who i buy all my products oft has said to me for a bhp a 5ft minimum enclosure and that rack is a tad to small for an adult

They look way too big, keep them in click clacks their whole lives... that way they breed by shear accident.

But yours are womas and stimmies Jason, I'd suggest a freezer bag for bhps. :p
