Havnt really had much time to be taking any new pictures lately but after i found myself bored while feeding tonight i figured id try get some good ones. Quality is not the best sorry they were taken with my mobile camera.

I got these two gals (2009 & 2010 hatchlings) through a friend of R*** earlier in the year. They are coming on great. Just trying to beef them up now over the Summer.

Should have some pictures and a video of the 2008 male tomorrow!

Thanks for looking.

Awesome snakes, amazing enclosure! What're the dimensions, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks. The 2010 girl is really bright. Hoping she keeps most of that as she ages.

All the tanks are 4ft x 2ft x 2ft. I have found aspen the best bedding so far because they seem to love burrowing. Iv tried wood chippings but noticed some nose rub and then sand i find they often have bad sheds. Aspen is nice and soft and easy to clean. For the 2010 girl i have a wooden panel up to make it a bit smaller (2ft x 2ft x 2ft) until she gets a bit bigger.

Just have them kitted out with some Exo Terra caves, Java wood, Granite stones and some branches for climbing.

Some of the 2008 Male.

Could anyone reccomend some good reading for breeding these guys?

Preparing them, the reccomended age, weights, introducing them, methods etc? A webiste / caresheet or book would be great thanks.

Nice snakes, :)
What do you use for substrate?

Try keeping and breeding Australian pythons by mike swan :)

Awesome ill check out that book. Thanks guys. Lets hope Amazon stock a copy.

Have either of you got experience breeding them? I often here different reccomendations for ages / sizes / weights for breeding females. I also know it can be hit or miss and it often is a case if it will work it will work but what do you tend to lead with for breeding females? Age? Size? Weight?

I use aspen for bedding. I have tried a few different things. Im not sure if its with all BHPs (id imagine it is) but my guys love love love to burrow non stop all night. I used wood chippings and found it too rough led to alot of nose rub. I only have the three so like to keep them in a natural setup so didnt like using newspaper. Also tried Sand and while good for the burrowing often found they had bad sheds. Find aspen the best for their needs and yet to have a problem. What do most people use?

Cheers :)
I don't have bhp, just jungles
aspen, will need to remember that :) looks great by the way :)

i have used aspen when i had a stimmi it was quiet good, easy to spot clean, im using wood chips now with my SWCP she tends to sit up on top of things so no burrowing issues (surprise surprise lol)

but at least you have photo proof of a BHP climbing :p

By far my favourite python, you have some beauties there Mark good luck with the breeding and be sure to post lots of pics :D

Cheers Guys!

I notice the larger female loves to climb so much more! Probably just trying to escape though, thats what they are doing with most their time lol.

hi what do u use for the bedding i am getting afemale bhp mid next year

Looks to me like Aspen bedding. There is a current thread running that discusses a similar product - Hemp bedding.
