Hi, I’m cal and I have a problem. Last year in September I got my own little blue tongue, who’s about 5 months old today! His name is Jupiter, and he’s got a little kink on the end of his tail.
Before i got him, (I got him when he was around 2 and a half to 3 weeks old) he wasn’t in the best condition. The guy I got him off of didn’t use ANY heating or uvb lights in his tank as it had been an unexpected birth (I’m guessing.) and until he got to me, he never really had any necessities. When I first got him, he was INCREDIBLY lethargic and didn’t respond to me even wiggling him around a bit, wouldn’t even open his eyes. After a couple of days of cold hard stress and heating, he seemed to be doing a lot better (he’s also very healthy now!)
I’ve heard a million horror stories about mbd and how owners can easily be mislead and accidentally end up giving their little scaly friend it. However, it is only the end of his tail and it doesn’t look like that at all to me, (hopefully)
I’ve included photos of his tail, ignore the tiny bit of unshed scales on the end. Because of how curved it is, he seems to have the most trouble getting that off. He gets proper amounts of calcium and vitamin intake, 5.0 uvb globe. Calcium twice a week. Pellets every day mainly.
Also, my mother claims that he’s had a tiny little kink since birth and that it’s just gotten more pronounced as he has aged, so maybe a deformation?
He also seems tiny REALLY hate anyone touching the end of his tail, and gets super stressed about it. That may not be because of the kink though, but can’t be too sure. Doesn’t seem to HURT him I think.
Any opinions please??
(Side note, he’s a blotched blue tongue. And there are no reptile specialists where I live, hence why I’m also on a forum.)
Thanks muchly !
