Hey guys,
I have a 6 and a half month old Bredli python and he is feeding well on large adult mice. He is about 1m long now and i was wondering if anyone has any advice as to what size prey i should feed him... I was thinking it would be time for an up-grade in food items as he took down his mouse rather easily last feed.

Cheers

maybe look at hopper/small weaner rats. tho it dose seem a large feed for a 6 month old

1m at 6 months?

I have 2x 7 month Bredli, they are currently on fuzzy rats. I went straight from weaner mice to fuzzy rats, as the rats are roughly the same size as an adult mouse but wanted them on rats sooner rather than later.

wow iv neva had a bredli eating that large a prey or that big at that age

Geebuz! My 5.5 month old is 75cm long and has just had a food upgrade tonight. He was on pinky rats when I got him. Next for 6 weeks he has been on something that looks like it has only just got fur and I have just upgraded him to a fully furred small rat. I'm not really sure what you would call the size of the rat. See my thread below:

I reckon I might have been underfeeding him a bit though considering how well he did with the upgrade tonight.....

thanks guys i will try some rat fuzzies and see if he takes them.
He is a bloody big snake for his age!

Hey yea i will post some pics tonight, he is still a bit funny about being held but im gonna try again tonight

I was just asking, as the other day my mate thought 60cm was a meter, so i was just making sure this wasnt the case

Nah 60cm's is only 2 foot, so rest assured it's definately not the case.

I have 3 new Bredli the season just gone by. 2 from the same clutch. They have never had a mouse and are eating hopper rats. These guys are already showing yearling colourations coming on to their 6th shed. The 3rd is on mice still had its first rat the other week. This girl still looks like a hatchie and is half the size. Some come out bigger from the egg than others. Feed in proportion to the individual to leave a nice little bulge can't go wrong.

Yeah, same. My boy was always a strong feeder & went from weaner mice to fuzzy rats a while ago now. My female was a bit slower starting to feed (according to the feed card from the breeder) & has only just recently gone to rats. She is noticeably (yet not significantly)smaller than the male yet they hatched the same day (same breeder, different clutches). I've noticed they grow quicker on the rats compared to the mice.

Hey guys, I have put i few pics in my album and you can check out how big my not so little boy is!
I was just wondering how often i should be feeding my Bredli (100cm) on large adult mice? I will be moving him on to rats soon I just can't get live smaller rats so until then, mice it is :)

Hi Lineatus. I feed every 10 days or more at the moment it is not really important if your python is going strong. Yours in a nice sized Bredli judging from the pics. But, are you feeding live?

Ouch!

nah I feed him fresh kill large mice but I am about to try a frozen weaner rat and see how he goes. Hes been hunting around quite a bit so i think he may be quite hungry!

Yeah mines a similar size (maybe 10-20cm smaller), and I think about that age.

I feed my boy large weaner rats and he seems to do pretty good on them??
