Hey guys whats the best age or weight to breed diamond's???

I have keeping and breeding aust pythons good read, no all i need to but ages or body weights to start.

someone help me out.

The current issue of Reptiles Australia mag has got a good article on Diamonds, it ends at cooling.
Next issue continues with breeding, incubation etc.
Might be some extra info in there that may help.

sum people say they can breed around 2.5 yrs with a good body wieght others say 3 yrs and others say not before 6 yrs but i have got a pair they r 3 yrs im goin to try breed them next yr feed them up bit and c how they go

Ive got a high yellow pair and im going to breed the at 4 years.

I was planning on breeding my diamonds at some stage as well. My female is one year younger than my male (she's 4), but she looks so much smaller than my male (not length wise, but biggness wise, lol if you know what I mean)... I think I might buy that magazine as Tonksy said and have a read of that :)

thanks for all the help guys. my female is about 5 yrs about 6 ft but not very solid bodied. i do have a male for her but hes oinly about 3 yrs and only 3ft so im thinkin he may be to small so im once again in the shopping for a large male diamond. really wanna breed these guys.
next season diamonds for sure.
ive always heard that a bigger female over a male is better but in my situation its to big.

g'day, if you like the look af your male , he will breed 4 you next year ,(if he is not to fat) and she is in breeding condition.

Both male and female need to start at 6 ft long, but males can be slightly smaller.
Min. age for the male & female imo is 4 years old.
Males are leaner and the females obviously need to have more body weight.
You can generally see if your female is good nick ready for cooling in early May, she will look very solid but not fat.
Having 2 males to put over 1 female at the same time is a bonus as this tends to increase your chances at a successful outcome.
Diamonds are more difficult to breed than say jungles or bredli, but worth the effort.
Good luck.
Aleks.

once again thanks for all the thoughts on the topic. good to pick some other peoples brains about breeding.

Ill give it a go and see what happens bit of luck and fingers crossed.

Its not just a matter of giving it a go,do you have the resources to care for them, the rodents to feed them,I cant understand some people some times...Some people need to look at the bigger picture...Im not saying your one Phil, but nearly everyone these days the first questions they ask,how to breed my .......In most cases if the female lays eggs, they hatch...you need to care for each one seperately...plus have the rodents to feed them, once their feeding you can sell them, sometimes that takes 6-12months......

Hey, yeah ive got rats breeding and em prepared to do all i can to get hatchies to feed. i have a incubator in the process of being built and have a number of tubs for the snakes once born. as for selling them not to worried about that. keep some sell some off cheap. i know a few people interested in snakes.

Ill agree with u a bit python on ppl just jumping into it. ive been keeping for 6 yrs now i know the ins and outs just not really clued up on size as i havent read much about size and age. i think if people have the snakes and the equipment then yeah let them breed. let them find out first hand what the prosess is. if they struggle they will learn. now days tho there is everything you need to do it you can buy and so on. lol im rambling a bit.

thanks for the heads up python.
