hey guys i was just wondering if its to late to breed this yr cos i just find my female spotted to nite after loosing her for 3 months and she was in great health so the male was wasnt cooled is it to late to started doin it now cheers brenttin

I've still got them mating you can try put them togethre but it's pretty late, allthough I know a few people up that way that have late ones every year, I've allready got some ants gravid, they have a bigger window then most other species, put them together as you're starting the cooling allthough I personally think it's too late.

well there are a lot of differant things to cosider when breeding, the condition of your animals is the most important.... Now you said you only just found your female so im guessing that she has been gone for awhile, now if she hasnt been conditioned correctly then you probably should just wait till next season.

But if you really want to have a go and think that she is in good enough condition then she will have naturally cooled for abit now anyway so its really just your male you have to worry about. If you cooled him for 2 weeks and introduced him to the female, you still have a small chance that they will breed as long as they are of a breeding age.

If it was me and i just found my female i would be just happy she is home safe and would cut my losses and try next season instead of rushing things, not to mention the fact of not knowing how stressed out she was during her 'holiday'

so yes alot to consider!!!!

You can put them together when you start the cooling proccess, I've had them introduced and mating the night I've started cooling.
