this one python has been the bane of my existance.
and its worce beeing sunday arvo theres no vets open,
i called up the local expert/snake handler/catcher, hes going to have a look at her and sugest what to do next, get an x-ray and all that on monday i guess.

but i am stressing some thing epic, i hate seeing them like this, and she had done a nummber on her lower jaw, part of it is side ways.

she still has good cordanation, but her face. and notihing is open so i cant do anything for her right now, and that in its self is killing me.

i hope that she will be alright, but i see this kind of problem as serious one.

ahhh what elce can i do.

ill try, but ive bagged her up to keep her quiet, she's pacing around and stressing, she going to make it worce for her self doing that

the thing that stresse me the most is that this is so sudden to happen, i check up on them every morning and every afternoon, and she was fine yesterday arvo/night.

did it happen after you fed her? looks like she hasn't been able to click her jaw back in? anyways hope she's alrite keep us updated when you see the vet....

no i have not fed her, she was cooled off this year as i did hope to breed from her, but now it looks like that wont happen.

Why won't that happen? Because of the jaw? A dodgy jaw doesn't stop them from breeding, even if you are treating the jaw. So good luck with the breeding :).

It looks like the jaw has just twisted inwards and the teeth have caught themselves on the upper gums. It definately doesn't look like a jaw broken by DPS. Jaws broken by DPS typically break in the middle which causes the chin to drop down from both sides.

If it was my snake, I would open the mouth and then see if it re-aligns as the mouth closes, or even feed it and see it the jaw re-aligns.

I have seen one of my snakes do that for about half an hour after feeding, like ST said its probably caught on something

i have done this, and you cant see it too well by this photo, but one side looks as thou it is broken in the middle and now faces inwards, the other side that dose not look broken is beeing forced out buy this, the side that is facing inwards, teeth are not caught on any thing, and she cannot close her mouth.

back form the vets, she has to stay the night, they are going to knock her out and feel up her jaw, and maybe do an x-ray, but they think she has done some thing to the ligaments in her mouth (damaged it some how)

the vet had a poke around her mouth and there is definatly some thing wrong

and serpettongue, the resion why im am at this stage removing her from my breeding plans is because i do not wish to place her under any unnessacary stress,
becaue i do care about the well being of my animals and not just making a quick buck!.

i shall, im stressing cause she is my fave one out of the lot, well realy i love them all, but she is the stand out from the croud sort.

So you think that's what I'm all about, making a quick buck? No, I'm actually all about appreciating these fantastic animals, enjoying the priviledge of keeping them, learning from them, breeding them and raising babies. I've given away far more snakes than what I've bred, and I have bred quite a few in the 20+ years I've been keeping them.

Your snake may well get over this jaw issue within a week, depending on how well it goes at the vet. That won't stop you having the satisfaction of breeding them on time.

Good luck either way.

sorry if i offended you, but im saying that at this point untill i know what the full story is, im not going to risk putting the extra stress on her, if she recovers in time than yeah, ill be putting her back into the mix, but untill i can now what the situation is im not going to do that, it just seamed odd to be that you remarked saying that "a broken jaw wont stop you from breeding them"

admitidly i am not that expreianced in these matters, and as so i am taking a cautious aproach to it all,

thanks ant way for the well wishing, and again sorry if i offended you,

One of my coastals stricked at me and hit the glass when i walked past the enclosure...and i was sure she broke her jaw. looked exactly the same as your diamonds jaw. I went into panic because she was rolling around pushing her face into the ground etc. And about 2hrs later she fixed it.

I hope ur diamonds ok mate.
