Get yourself a small tub of F10 topical ointmant and apply daily. his skin should be good as gold in no time.

a pic ,of the snake wound and enclosure would be helpfull , have u since fixed it so it cant burn its self again?

yeah mate heat light has been fixed so he cant lay on it any more he ha been laying on it for months but i guess during the colder days be spends more time up there than normal

hopefully u have a big enough heat lamp cage so he cant get close enough to burn him self again

+1

Not the fault of your "dumb diamond."

Watch carefully for any signs of infection. A trip to the vet may be in order.

How could you're diamond lay "On" the heat lamp cage?

I'm guessing it's mounted from the side wall of the enclosure...

Your light and cage should be mounted from the roof of the enclosure and a branch fixed underneath so you snake can perch under the light.

Don't blame your snake mate...blame yourself for not doing the right thing in the first place!

Well my cage is mounted from the roof and my snake still wraps around it. I would suggest Silvazine. F10 ointment is probably just as good, everyone has their own idea that is tried and tested. Silvazine is specially designed for treating burns and is incredibly brilliant. Get it from vet for about $25. I work in a bakery and have used it on my own burns and I am amazed at how soothing it is and reduces scarring.

It is important to keep the burn dry so avoid bathing him and even provide a smaller drinking bowl to stop him soaking in his water bowl. open burns can let water in which gets trapped under their scales and will cause an infection. And when he sheds don't attempt peeling the skin off the wound. Leave it be, it will come off itself. With an injury like that he will probably shed more often than usual as his skin tries to repair itself.

To prevent such happening again, try downsizing your light if you can. Only provide as big a heat source as he needs. Going too big causes too many problems and if a thermostat fails you can result in overheating, burns like this. Diamonds don't need a warm spot any more than 26c so if you can lower the power of the light, do it.

This is how you stop burning your snakes...........:D
Anyone can replace a globe without entering the enclosure, through the black port-hole.

to get it eating again i suggest u feed it a live rat from a pet store

I have seen you suggest live feeding three times on this forum, and each time it was definitely not necessary.

It would be a good idea to actually know what you're talking about before giving advice that may cause injury to someone's animal.

is this bloke serisious!?!
feeding live is the bigest NO-NO , especialy if the animaly is already stressed.
there is absoultly NO need at all to feed live to a captive animal.

dose he feed live to his animals... probably, why?

He is serious unfortunately, I just hope no newbies listen to his irresponsible advice.

Throwing a live RAT (!?) in with an injured python, that has not even been off food for long...how silly and dangerous. I just wish people would think before posting sometimes.
