cage size

hey im new to owning a snake
i have an 8 month old jungle python
the cage i have the little guy in atm is fine so no need to worry
but i was wondering how do we tell what size to get the next cage
atm hes in a 2.5ft X 1.5ft X1.5 ft
hes really tiny for his age about 1.5 ft long the pervious owner never fed the little fella
does the cage have to be 3/4 the lenght of the snake or longer then the snake ?
i dont want the cage to be too small is all and the things ive looked up all say different things
i know hes a climber so more height than lengh is better
i just wanted a few tips to help how you guys determine your cage sizing

hey =). it has to be at least half his size or more. a young snake likes being in a smaller space it feels more space. but when he/she is an adult then as much space as you can give him/her is best. thats what i reckon =P

would you concider adult 2 -3 ?

it doesnt really depend on it's age to move it into a bigger enclosure. it depends on how fast it's growing i guess. you wouldnt wait for a year and a half to put it in a bigger cage when its already outgrowing it in 6 months. if that makes sense =P. sorry if it didnt. haha
