as you can see he has some beutiful markings and ive built him a great box he is fed extreemly well and is extreemly well cared for

the seller told me he is a cape york carpet so i sopose he's from the top of queensland and after doing som reserch as well as trying to find photos of other snakes similer ive found that he might be a jungle or a Morelia spilota mcdowelli
im verry interested to know this my first snake and ive had him for almost ayear now
and when i bought him he was two feet long now he is about four and a half foot long and sheeding roughly every 12-13 weeks.... how old would this make him ? if any one could help or lend me their opinion i will greatly accept it and be very greatfull

P.S i apoligize for my lack of knowlegde i know these are things i should of asked before bringing him home but when i handled him before purchase i was a bit overwhelmed at how flighty he was ,and still is but not as much any more, and the added excitement i forgot to ask these simple things i even forgot to ask if he was a she but ive been reading how sex them and after a bit more plus a freind game enough to hold the top half away i might find out if its he or she wish me luc LOL

Looks like a Darwin to me mate :D

And sticky tape is sooo risky in the enclosure dude, i recommend removing that.

What is a reputable breeder or seller?

A cape york (coastal) carpet, or it does look like a darwin. Definately not a jungle python.

you'd want to make sure those bricks are secure!!!

I would lean towards darwin. You should put a hide at both ends.

Please do not probe your snake!
If your are not sure what you are doing you could hurt it!
Reading something and doing it are very different things.

looks like a darwin although there are alot of capies around that look the same so if he said capie it most definately could be... can i ask why you doubt the sellers honesty?
if this is a pet and will never breed it doesnt really matter anyway.
also i agree that you should not attempt to sex an animal without being shown how to and watched by somebody that is experienced in probing, just so that you are sure its all correct and you dont make a costly error.
contact the seller and ask the questions you forgot to ask then, age, sex, subspecies etc etc... these are a must when buying an animal, even if just for records
best of luck

do not prob it u will hurt it, its not about being game enough to stick a pole up its clacker its about knowing how to do it

YAY! We haven't had one of these threads in ages!

It does have a darwin look about it but i have seen pictures of capies that are dopple gangers for darwins. I would trust the seller, they would be the only person who could give you the truth and i doubt a breeder would lie in this instance.

Looked very Darwin at first glance, but hey the posters above me arent exactly renowned for their guesswork !!!

And yeah dude, unless you are an alien very skilled in probing other species, leave it to the pros- if you needed a sharp tool jammed in your date, would you rather a first timer do it, or george Michael ???

See, it would have to be Geaorge man he knows what he's doing.

So unless your are Ian Thorpe, just get a PRO to do it....

I think you have your answer for the ID. As far as age goes, it was probably less than a year old when you got it. Assume that it hatched in January (although Darwins tend to hatch in November) of the year before you got it. Enjoy your pet!

thanks heaps for the advice guys yeh i supose i wouldent want some one sticen any thing up my clacker but i just thought you had sqweeze it gentaly and then the anatamy could be seen but if there is a chance i can hurt him i wont risk it and ill get a profeshional to check down the line plus im not one to go round looking for dead ones just to look up there A$$ hole's
that sounds sick !!!!...............but thanks anyway p.s im getting cages for my lamps soon and ive moved the brick just in case. thanks guys

I agree it looks like a darwin to me :)

why would you trust the seller? he didn't say he got it from a breeder, I would say it was from a pet shop ( the breeder would give you more info on it) and they will say anything for a sale :|

don't probe, you should only do that if it's a hatchie/juvie

here's ours:)
