Was just watching my guy (4yo coastal, approx 7ft), curled up basking, and noticed a very pronounced spasm about 1/3 -halfway along his body (closer to head end), almost looked like he had a live rat inthere trying to get out!!
i fed him on wednesday night, and he did a poo last night.
It happened a few times, and he readjusted himself, seemed to stop, then i saw it again. seems to have stopped now.
so anyway, do snakes get hiccups??

Not sure about hiccups... I doubt it... One of mine definately has a lisp though. A real problem with essses.....

Personally, I think that is a great question... one which I would be interested to hear the answer to.

I was just reading on "austmorelias" that snakes can have neurological disorders, some ranging from twitches to full spasms. I don't know whether just morphs get it, i don't know if they can develope it. just thought i'd put it out there.

While i appreciate the random input there AC6, I really doubt that is the situation here (a 4 yo snake, and an isolated incident). Was really wondering if anyone had seen this, or knew a definite asnwer as its the only thing i can think that was happening.

Random input? I believe you asked a question and he gave you a reply to your question, hardly random. Yes some kind of neurological could be the case and any animal, not just morphs can have them, they can be genetic or environment related so its always a possibility. I think people tend to freak out when neurological disorder is mentioned but its not always serious, it can be something as minor as a slight twitch here and there, nothing to be concerned about

People on here tend to jump to conclusions, in some cases tenuously linked worst case scenarios. An isolated incident for the first and only time in a 4 year life span, hardly seems cause to suggest a neurological disorder. Hence my description as (imo) random.

I honestly dont know why I bother posting my questions up here. Much better to just PM those who i know are knowledgable, understanding and level headed.

(and hornet, technically the question was: "do snakes get hiccups" not "what is the possible cause of a muscle spasm")
