I am in isolation with suspected swine flu and just wondering if there is any chance of passing on any kind of illness to your snake?

I can't find any info on google but figure that because it has been passed on from pigs to humans that maybe there is a chance you can pass on the germs to other animals??

Should i not handle her while i am sick?

i think your snake is pretty safe :D

why would you want to handle your snake when your sick???

just stay in bed and limit your movements to a minumum and let your body take care of the sickness.

oink oink piggy hae you grown a little curly tail yet?????

donks

I would doubt you could pass bacteria or viruses to a snake or reptile for that matter. However, I guess it is possible to accidentally introduce ticks or mites - but I'd say that would be difficult to do as well (or jolly unlucky).

I have often wondered if snakes would like you more when you have a fever - you'd be warmer so I wonder if they'd use that - their own living heat mat :)

"pulls on donks tail"

Here Pig Pig PIggy!!!!

Our whole server tech team is off with swine flu.... bloody business meetings..
good thing i pulled a sickie that day....

Haahaaa, well she looked like she might want to come out and play!

I work from home so bed is not an option today - although very tempting i have to say! I think i am feeling the worst of all today - i find out tomorrow morning whether or not it is officially swine flu.

No piggy tail yet but i am making all kinds of interesting noises....and i have this strange craving for corncobs and truffles!

Slim6y, i wouldn't think they would like you too much more - coz you get all sweaty as well - mine never did like too much water!

Sturdy, that was a good decision - or not - you could have had another 7 days off sick!

I imagine not. However, they can pass things onto you (salmonella, etc), which could hit you particularly hard with a compromised immune system. Better to just leave them in their enclosures :D
