Good Morning APS,

Question about candling eggs!

as i posted in my earlier post i found 2 little gecko eggs this morning! as i was in a rush i didnt mark them and threw them straight into the incubator!

i candled them before i lay them down but wasnt sure which side was what?!

i put the darker side face down on the sand and lighter side facing upwards!

is that the correct way?

Thanks!

I don't believe their is a "correct way" as such, but the correct side of which they were laid is important. Although, I've heard of breeders who have had tubs in incubators knocked around with eggs rolled with no problems, and this was at the most crucial points of incubation.

However there laying when their dug up is how they should be placed. This early into incubation, it really doesn't matter to much, the last few weeks is the most crucial point.

The dark area is usually where the embryo is. That should be down, which you did.
