someone really need to come up with a quick and effective way for erradicating this pest.

Cane toads suck....surely someone out there has the brains to work out how to wipe em all out.

They have wrecked many parts and are quickly wrecking the rest of Australia these feral good for nothing toads,I HATE FARKING TOADS

I find the fact that these creatures are not declared pests in Queensland absolutely bizare.
In my suburban block in Innisfail North Queensland we killed 233 in the first three months of moving in. It was such a shame that no others in our street gave a toss. In a period when I got a bit slack and didn't kill them for a while , I soon had dozens more taking their place. It would be interesting to know if our harsh desert environment over here in Port Hedland and beyond will be some natural barrier.

killing thousands of toads makes little difference.. one adult female can lay 30,000 eggs, twice a year, and its a great survival rate.
it just has to be a biological control on a mass scale. only thing that will work.

Unfortunaty craig23 is right, the only long term solution is a biological control. But removing toads manually at least gives the wildlife a slightly better chance. If (and when) I move back to rural QLD I'll experiment with traps (maybe modified pit traps that let other animals escape) to try and keep at least a small area toad free.

Horrid little beasts!! i just completed a 5000 word report on the buggers and our native wildlife is in alot of trouble. Stuff all money has been put forward from the states and federal government for research, but yes.....the CSIRO are on the job with what little they have and the scientists have come up with a fair few good ideas on how to at least slow them down.....More funds please!!!!!

Good luck to the north!!

Ithink it would be nice for APS to set up a thread for donations to help funding,it's no good winging about it so we should do what we can.I have brought this up before and am happy to donate $100 if one of the mods or someone can start a thread.

They are quickly wiping out many of our beloved reptiles so are we just going to sit here and watch it happen till it's too late or are we going to try and do our own little bit which all adds up???

C'mon peoples lets help put an end to these feral mongrel things they call vermin cane toads!!!!

If a female can lay that many eggs, if you killed one then thats 30 000 less eggs laid.

Every little bit helps

I don't see them down here! Bridgestone & I used to do our bit in Queensland with the population problem  That's not forgetting my other good mates Good-Year, Yokohama and Pirelli who also used to work tirelessly through all the riff-raff during those wayward years of mine :D
