Just doing a bit of online pricing so I can compare to my local petshops on the weekend for a few things I need to setup my enclosure. Would love to know what people and where people bought things to save on setting up costs.

2foot T8 light fitting -http://www.amazingamazon.com.au/aquarium-fish-tank-light.html I cant seem to find an alternative for this one?

10% UVB light - Exo Terra Reptiglo 10.0 24" - Aquarium and reptile online shop in Melbourne. Specialise in Baby Turtles, Lizards, Frogs and Pythons also for sale! I think my LPS is about the same pricing.

Light socket for basking light - Edisson screw fitting with lead and switch. - Aquarium and reptile online shop in Melbourne. Specialise in Baby Turtles, Lizards, Frogs and Pythons also for sale! On my turtles I use a desk lamp from bunnings but that is only rated to 60w globes. I think that would be enough to get the heat we need though. Otherwise a ceramic light fitting will have to do.

Thermometers - dual probe of ebay ZSJ-002 Digital Two Location Probe Thermometer reptile | eBay ( p.s if anyone uses this is it a AA or AAA battery? )

I have not priced up water/food bowls or decorations yet I will probably try ebay those as well if its a decent saving. I live in QLD Sunshine Coast if anyone knows of a cheap place nearby :D

We went to a local kitchen maker, he had a cupboard half built which was about the size we wanted and he sold it to us for $75, hubby bought some melomine and finished it off. We bought artificial plants from our local Spotlight shop. You can make hides out of almost anything, even a cardboard box and cover it with cement and paint it...water based paint. Or that polystyrene stuff. I use newspaper on the floor, and any ceramic bowl will do for water. A piece of PVC pipe blocked at one end also makes a good hide...they come in lots of sizes. We've got a piece of broom handle which we grooved for Barrie to stwine around if he wants to. We got an old floor tile and put the heat coil under it for his heat mat. Hope some of that helps.

Use ebay for pretty much everything especially lights you will save a crap load, even search ebay for tanks or terrariums and under filter search down the left hand side click used and auction and u should find some good tanks for cheap

cheers

My tank is cheapest part so far 50$ which I may modify slightly but should do the trick. It's a members on here old enclosure just has no electrics.

OK, thanks, regarding Lizards I am not 100% on their requirements, I keep pythons.
You seem to know what they need.
Utilise this forum 'Marketplace' and scour eBay. As an example, I saw a rock/plant object for snakes in a petshop for $69.95, but on ebay, the same rock/plant was $29. PETSHOPS SUCK.
A cabinet maker should be able to knock you an enclosure up cheap, plenty of designs on the net as a guide.
Would be good to see a followup post with your new setup.

Ebay... my digital display thermostat with probe cost me $20, digital Thermometer with probe $2 (even though not really needed due to bright red light up display on thermostat)
Ceramic light fittings $2, adaptor to convert ceramic es fitting to gu10 to use with 50w 240v halogens $2
50w 240v halogens like $10 for a 8 pack at kmart..
compact fluro uv light 10.0 less then $30..
all this off ebay and all prices included free delivery....
Tip...when searching always scroll down and look at all the international sellers... most of my stuff comes from hong kong thats why its so cheap been using it for years and never had an issue..
