Hey i have a 6-7foot olive (havent measured him for awhile). In his enclosure there is 2 foot ledge that he consistently falls off, never gets hurt just cant balance him self well. So as hes getting bigger im lookng at a new enclosure in the future. The new enclosure would be bigger and have higher ledges and such forth. Would he get used to them and not fall as much or should i be looking at a low enclosre with not much height.

Thanks, will

there is a 15 foot olive here at my home atm and i just made a ledge on the actual shelf just so whilst in coils she has somethign to grasp or stop her from going over the edge

Hey Will, i'm fairly new to snakes but do you have any branches for him to use as well as the shelf? i think they like the hieght so they can climb.

Not at the moment just some rocks and caves. ill go take some pics now and post them here

you could potentially make a box mate to sit on that shelf

i would probably simplifly the enclosure water bowl newspaper or snake bedding and a thick log from one side of enclosure to the other

Thanks, might start that today. Any thought, should i get a higher enclosure more rrom to climb or not??

you can but really just a nice box on the end of the shelf will make the snake a little more stable when on the shelf

you could make a taller enclosure with a few shelves up to you mine is in an 8x2x2 enclosure with a shelf and two hide boxes

i dont really think you need to much height for Olives as they really are more of a ground dwelling species.I would tend to say more length than height is idfeal for an Olive.
Perhaps just modify that shelf with a piece of skirting to prevent any further falls.
