So i just had "The Bitch" out and noticed her scales are really rough and she sounded snuffy? like she had a cold? Ive heard of respitory(sp?) problems but not in carpets? i dont have any vets or anything near me that can help with snakes, but my friend was at a reptile place today cause her snake got bitten up pretty bad by the rat she chucked in the cage to feed (idiot i know), so if i need to get her medication i can go there, she hasnt eaten in a while and i thought it was just because of the weather change here and she was going into hibernation cause Luigi her mate has gone off food too

You have pretty certainly got a temperature problem which has led to RI
Pick up Luigi and listen to his breathing
You may also hear faint wheezing noises when you listen closely
There are all kinds of medications available now so dont panic
First check the temps
If they seem ok pump them up about 2C
If they are low run them up to about 31C if possible
If the viv is damp dry it out as much as possible
Then put them back in and leave them alone until you can get help
We cant get anti biotics like Baytril here so I use alternative methods usually
But I found Baytril works well if you complete the entire course

No luigi is fine im constantly cuddling him and his never made a noise at me, i always thought it was her hissing at me for taking her BF away but after holding her for a while and hearing that i freaked out! our reptile room is always between 25 at the lowest and 28/29 during the day, we turn everything off at night but so i dont know what its like in there at night? i might put her in the tank with the heat light and mat and keep her warmer? ill get the number for this reptile place and give them a call

Some people dont like using antibiotics unless really necessary
This is a method that has worked for me in the past

500ml of boiling water in a jug
Add
I/2 teaspoon of vicks vapour rub
Few drops of pure eucalyptus oil
Put snake in ventilated plastic box
Put that box inside a larger unventilated plastic box like a toy box
Put jug of hot water vicks and eucalypt into the big box ensuring no direct contact between jug and smaller box
Close the lid and leave it for a few minutes
Check snake and leave again for about five minutes
Do this twice a day for 14/21 days
Pump up humidity by 10 or 15%
Increase temps by 2 or 3C during this entire period

RI is a pretty tough one to totally cure but I use this method with good success rates so far

Well ship, looks like im going shopping tomorrow, god i hope this works im so worried about her, thank you so so soooooo much!

There is one very important thing I didnt include
This is NOT a treatment that means severe RI shouldnt go to a vet
But in your case I think it will probably work very well because she is not blowing bubbles etc

This is simply an alternative method that seems to work very very well

If theres anything at all about it you dont quite understand just ask anytime
I tried to be as concise as I could but everyone interprets words in different ways

Oh god i hope it doesnt get that bad :( i cant thank you enough, ill let you know how she goes :)

When I got my first shipment of chondros in Bali 18 out of 24 had severe RI and some also had Stomasis
Most were blowing bubbles every breath and all were severely undernourished
I used this method
I lost 1 chondro
Most of the rest have now successfully bred apart from 2 that are just display animals and will not be used in the breeding program

Thats so good, i cant believe people would sell animals if they arent well? espcially if they are blowing bubbles, you would be able to tell something isnt right! i hate people that are just in it for the money and not the passion
